It seemed like Ayato had calmed down from his hysterics, but goddamn did every word out of Miho’s mouth felt like poison. It was literally killing him on the inside as their words were like twisting a knife in his gut. This hurt, everything hurts right now. But…Ayato had a small smile on his face.

“…I see. Thank you for telling us your motives. Honestly? I wouldn’t have minded if Shiro killed me. I do have bad luck with woman after all.”

Ayato let out a quiet laugh as he rubbed his puffy, red eyes. His voice was kind of hoarse from all of that laughing and crying as he tried to force the words out of his throat.

“I really did trust Shimura though, even if it was all a lie. I mean…even if I did get hurt, I was still able to learn how to trust, even just a tiny bit. Even if I did do a shit job at expression my emotions, I can chalk it up to at least trying. I’m…definitely not the same person who woke up in this place.”

His whole body felt like it was jelly and that his head was lighter than air as he continued. He gripped his shirt tightly, his arm trembling.

“…Listen. It’s obvious how wildly different our viewpoint is with yours and your partner over there what with you being a megalomaniac and them being sociopathic like your lackeys. So…trying to convince you that you’re wrong and stuff is kind of pointless, and it’s probably best for all of us here to just…end this show. You got what you wanted. You got a whole movie’s worth of bloodshed and tragedy so yeah, there you go.”

Ayato’s hand hovered over the voting board.

“Goodbye, Shimura. It was nice meeting you. Nagashiro? Not so much.”

Ah. There it is.

Another person Ayato trusted turned out to not only be a murderer, but the one actually behind all of this. Kenji Shimura, or rather Miho Nagashiro; was the Mastermind and Felix Addams slash Basil Krasenoff was their lackey. Visions of Kenji being worried about him, Ayato stupidly talking about himself, letting Kenji even near him. He knew the whole time, didn’t he? Everything Kenji told him was one gigantic lie, wasn’t it? This was all so…so…

Hilarious.

“Ha…h-ha…ah hahahahahahahahaa!!”

Ayato…suddenly doubled over laughing, his whole body trembled as he laughed. Is this guy okay?? Well, no not really. He’s never been the same since all of this started. His laughter kept echoing within the trial room and then slowly, his laughter started to fade into sobs. Oh god, he was actually crying.

“Ah ha…hehehehe…*hic* a-aaah…ahaha..nnngh…”

The laughter continued, he couldn’t stop! He laughed and laughed as more tears spilled from his eyes but the info broker still kept a horribly broken smile. His whole body hurt from laughter and just being betrayed again. He felt numb, he wasn’t even sure if his heart was functioning properly as he spoke between sobs and laughter.

“I-I…I actually opened up t-to you…! I’m…s-such an idiot…to blindly trust someone a-and talk about my p-past…! You…you sicced a dog…on my little sister…w-who is terrified of dogs…!! I…f-ffffucking…fought your lackeys a-and had my arm b-b-broken! I r-really got d-duped, h-huh? Aha…aheheheh…third…t-third’s time t-the c-c-charm…!!”

His laughter and sobs started to fade, Ayato’s nearly hyperventilated breath and hiccups being the only thing that came out of him. His free hand reached up to his chest, gripping onto his shirt tightly. All of the sounds were becoming distorted as he had his own personal breakdown.

“S-So…so…can we get to the point…? Why did you two do all of this and why us?”

Impossible Year | Trial 5.5 | Delta/Ayato | Re; Jiro, Declan | Atten; Felix/Basil

“Well, speaking of the whole ‘Wolf in Sheeps Clothing’ theme, I found this in the darkroom.”

Delta scrolled through his phone until he turned it around for everyone to see. On his screen was a transfer request memo. It looks like an official form, stamped with the HPA logo and signed by the head of student services, approving the transfer of [REDACTED] from Class 2B to Class 1A (this one). The reasons section lists simply by Personal Request.

“Whoever this person is didn’t even originally belong in our class. Correct me if I’m wrong but the number beside the letter is supposed to indicate what year we are, right? Whoever this transfer student is they’re a year ahead of us and, for whatever reason, transferred to our class.”

Ayato’s eyebrows furrowed before he continued.

“So…is anyone seeing a similarity with Seval’s murder and the Shibuya thing? I mean, it may be just be one small similarity but the whole mutilation thing is what gets to me. These past murders have been relatively…tame, to say the least. Asphyxiation, blood loss, head trauma; but mutilation? That’s definitely more messed up than how the rest of the murders happened. Seval’s tongue was cut up and we found their eyes in one of the aquarium tanks! Anyone can kill, yes, but it takes someone far more skilled, or perhaps motivated, to go that extra mile just to mutilate someone.”

Ayato sighed. His heart was practically trying to burst from his ribcage as he glanced at Kenji, an almost sad look on his face before he looked back at Felix/Basil.

“Addams…Krasnoff…I’m sorry, but…did you have a hand in any of this?”

Well, there it was. Ayato openly accused someone for being part of this whole set-up. He can’t say he was nervous, he was really super freaking nervous right now as he continued talking.

“You’re the child of a weapons manufacturing family, you have connections to mercenary groups and you’re possibly a mercenary yourself, you’re fluent in English, and your file has very little compared to the ones I’ve read. How do I know? We got most of Kelly’s life story out of that file and when Seval talked to me, they knew the names of my sisters among…other things they found out about me as well.”

Ayato’s eyes lowered as he gripped onto his phone.

“Well…you’re not exactly tied with the yakuza, but you’re the only one whose revealed to be part of a mob, unless there’s anyone else here who is…”

Ayato was leaning forward on his podium with his good hand. He had placed his phone on his podium and was tapping his fingernail on it nervously.

“You…were also the one who told Leblanc about Seval possibly being the culprit to Abbing’s murder. How…did you figure that out? I…I’m sorry…”

At this point, Ayato is praying to get proven wrong this time. Ayato’s head shot up when Declan mentioned an acting talent. His eyes grew wide as he immediately zero-ed in on the only person who had a talent that involved acting. Oh no. Oh no, oh no, oh no. His body broke out into a sweat as he darted his gaze away from everyone.

“The fairy tale was found in a dragon’s mouth, the class photo was found in a suit of armor. Knights slay dragons in fairy tales…”

The finger tapping only grew more persistent as he was muttering to himself, an almost borderline panicked look was on his face as he continued to mutter quietly to himself.

House of Memories | Trial 5.4 | Delta/Ayato | Re; MM Trial, Kenji, Jiro, Declan

Ayato was quite surprised at how on board everyone was with calling for a Mastermind trial. He’d at least suspect someone to pipe up and disagree, but then he heard Kenji speak up and oooh boy there goes all of the salt. Salt everywhere.

“…Heh, you could probably fuel the ocean with all of this salt…”

Ayato muttered quietly to himself. He should say something to diffuse the situation but he felt like the three can possibly put aside their salt just to figure out who the heck is behind all of this.

“Haha, uh, yeah; the whole…lack of evidence thing is…partially my fault. I…may have also been finding clues for the Mastermind as well…sorry.”

Ayato chuckled nervously as he looked at his phone.

“But, ah, I agree with LeBlanc. You see…when Seval told me about the files, they actually told me they stole the keys from Headphones and smuggled the files. I can assume stealing and looking at all of the private info they have on us, including the Mastermind and Mole themselves, was probably worse than me picking a fight with Headphones and the Sociopath. So I can see a reason why the two would have a hand in murdering Seval. They knew too much, probably.”

Ayato listened to everyone else talk. Ah, yes, “Mockingbird” and that fairy tale in the Prop room. Finally, he can put his info broking skills to the test.

“Speaking of Mockingbird, they’re actually a yakuza affiliated con-artist. They’re infamous for numerous successful cons and for having next to no details known about them for certain. Like Kakuma said, Mockingbirds are known to imitate the songs of other birds. Tying that in with the fairy tale, what if the Mastermind is trying to adopt likable traits to lure people into a false sense of security?”

But that’s just a theory, a MASTERMIND THEORY. Thanks for watching.

“Ah, the fairy tale? It was called, ’The Wolf in Sheeps’ Clothing’. Er, what’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ about?”

“Nyahoho! Looks like we’re eager to use that sparkly new mastermind trial option! How exciting! I’ll make sure we capture this drama-filled sequence on camera! Make it good, everyone, and let’s hope you only have to do it in one take!”

Eriko claps her hands together.

“Now thanks you all! So many votes so fast!”

“Bring out your best guesses, or rather your best educated guesses. I’d hope anyways. But, because of this your little motive gets nulled out of the way, so guess you’re safe for now. Doesn’t mean someone’s not going to die though. So get on that won’t ya?”

“Yeah, Seval told me about the files. I didn’t tell anyone else, though.”

Ayato had listened to everyone else quietly, tossing his phone up in the air and catching it. Declan’s theory was…very interesting. With how everything was going and where the evidence was pointing, he might have to bring that up.

“…You know, with how everything is going, why don’t we call for a Mastermind Trial? Headphones told us about it earlier anyways, which might hint that the Mastermind or their Mole really did have something to do with Seval’s murder. I’m sure you all found weird pieces of evidence lying around within each new area.”

Tossing his phone up in the air again and catching it, he then directed his attention to address everyone.

“Well? What do you guys think?”

Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time | Trial 5.2 | Delta | Re; Nagisa, Mio | Atten; Aiko

Well the shit hit the fan, then again, that could be said about the past trials as well. Delta nodded at Declan. So it was a lot of “he said/she said” stuff, huh? Well this was news to Delta as he didn’t realize that people were revealling to be murderers. Yikes.

Delta visibly flinched at Nagisa’s outburst. Hoo boy, Fight Club Barbie sure did hit a REALLY BIG NERVE. At Mio’s response to Nagisa, Delta quickly piped up.

“Hey, hey, HEY! Fujihara, cut it out. No one is going to be fighting ANYONE after this trial. Can’t you all see there is so few of us left?? This isn’t the time to be fighting each other. I will intervene if you two start throwing punches.”

Delta pinched the bridge of his nose, pushing his glasses up before he slid his hand down his face and continuing to speak.

“Since Addams and Kelly had their dirty laundry aired out forcibly, there’s no point in me hiding it anymore. My real name is Ayato Akiyama, nice to meet you all.”

As Delta (Ayato??) said this, he used his free hand to shrug off his jacket and slowly remove his sling. He hissed quietly to himself as he felt his broken arm throb in pain but he managed to use his one free hand to roll up both of his sleeves. His arms were clean but his hands were covered in tiny, faded scratches and one of his wrists had multiple horizontal scars. Yikes.

He reached up and yanked the red scarf off of his neck, revealling somewhat faded bruises on the sides of his neck before he huffed quietly, shooting a look at Mio.

“There. Happy? Although, let me remind you all I have a broken arm so therefore, I cannot do much with one hand, much less murder anyone. But there you go.”

Delta/Ayato muttered quietly to himself as he started to re-adjust his sling.

“Okay so– ow, seriously; where the fu–ow, ow, ow; where did that throwing knife even come from?”

Delta/Ayato was…obviously struggling to put his sling back on. Good job, you useless triangle.

After that question he turned his attention to Aiko.

“Sato, did you see Seval leave your trailer? Did you even see them before they died?”

Death of a Bachelor | Trial 5.1 | Delta | Re; Rosario, Declan

Delta had been doing his share of investigating, but he felt slightly unprepared. Well, not really slightly, he felt super unprepared. None of the evidence he found pointed to anyone specifically so this was a little troubling. He was, at the very least, awake and ready to participate, until…

“…Um…what??”

Did…did Rosario just accuse him of being a suspect? He started at her incredulously before staring at everyone else with a, “Are you fucking serious?”, look on his face before he spoke up.

“Yeah, no, I’m not a suspect on the account that I have a broken arm, and I can’t do a lot with one hand. My alibi has been the same as it always has been, I was in my trailer with Kakuma. Also, so basically what you’re saying is that anyone who finds the bodies are connected closely to the case? Well to debunk that, we’re going to have to go down a little trip down memory lane.”

Delta then pulled out his phone, tapping something on it as it…mysteriously kept vibrating but he didn’t really seem to notice it as he started listing off the past murders.

“Kido discovered Inoue’s body and Mayama was the culprit. Shiro…discovered Tsuruchi’s body and ended up being the culprit. Ueno discovered Hibiki’s body, Senko was the culprit. Seval found Oshirou’s body and Shimura, Kido, and Ueno found Abbing’s body. The culprit for their murder remains unknown.”

Did he seriously document all that? Well it looks like it as he slipped his phone back into his pocket before speaking.

“…As you can see, the only instance about anyone finding a body and being connected to their case had only ever applied to Shiro. Everyone else who found the other bodies had been mere coincidences, including mine. I just. Wanted. To get. Coffee.”

He punctuated the last sentence, a clear look of annoyance.

“Also, isn’t it too early throwing around accusations? Look, I know we’re all still put off by our mistrial last time but immediately throwing around accusations definietly isn’t a better way around it either. There is, like, a billion questions I have about this case. How do you know Seval killed Abbings? Where did that throwing knife even come from? How did Seval’s body come from the library to the Haunted House? Why even bother bringing Seval to the Haunted House?? We should at least adress these questions first before we finger point to people.”

Speaking of which though, he turned to Declan.

“How did you figure out that Rosario killed Oshirou?”

Your fears caught up to you at last || Trial 5 Start

And time drew once more to a close. You felt as though it got smaller and smaller with each coming trial. Perhaps you were getting used to it, but that wasn’t the thought on your mind.

TIMES UP. Everyone, come on down. You all have a murder to solve and you can’t do that standing around everywhere else.

And there it was, a call to end. Slowly you trudged to the trial. Perhaps you had started some kind of plan, perhaps all you could do was collect evidence. It’s all your own choice.

Here you stand. Three missing since the last case. So many dead around you…

You hear the all too familiar clap.

“Here you all are again, guess we are too but that’s not important.”

She laughs as if this was some kind of joke.

“Anyway, you all know the rules by this point. Find the killer, execute ‘em. No big deal. Just hope you guys stepped it up since last time.”

“Of course you also have the option of calling a Mastermind Trial, as it’s going to be called ‘cause i wanted to give it a nicer name than that big explanation. Call it, get some others on board with the idea, find the big ol’ baddie behind this and you’ll all get out of this place. Ain’t that tempting too?”

“But, I can’t make y’all do anything. So, let’s begin.”
