my mom is @hypomanic-chaos and they adopted me on the 29th of august, 2025!

i am named JJ but the lore behind my name is super secret, ooooo~~

during the day i like to hide in the darkness of my coconut hidey hut, and during the night i crawl to the top of my coconut hidey hut so i can be King Of The World!!

so far my favorite treat is BANANAS! coated with yummy protein flakes

Happy to announce that the babies now have their very own tiny home (complete with fresh fish flakes!)

unlike the regular roach enclosure, they will no longer be able to escape and hide away in the many crevices of grandma's (my) bedroom :)

for the week after she gave birth, i put sue in rex's enclosure so she'd be free from inky's advances (and rex, being a regular hisser rather than a dwarf hisser, has no interest in her) but tonight i put sue back with the other dwarf hissers, and not one hour later she and inky are attached at the butt 😭

hey everyone, JJ's mom here~ I've currently got JJ resting in my lap, and I just wanted to give an update. Yesterday, I got back from spending a night away and found JJ stuck on his back, unmoving. I picked him up and he was moving a little bit, he took a couple of bites of banana and was able to walk around with his front legs (both of which have been missing their feet for a couple months now).

A few weeks ago, after I noticed his husband Rex was acting aggressive towards him, I transferred him to the dwarf hissers' enclosure, where they generally left him alone in peace, but there were a couple instances here and there during the past week when he seemed to have accidentally flipped himself over while trying to climb something, and was unable to right himself. Luckily, I was around most of these times, to help him flip back over.

After I found him flipped over yesterday, I transferred him to a jar with a paper towel and some food/moisture, then I went to get groceries. When I got back, he was flipped over again. Realizing he might just be nearing the end of his life, I decided to put him back in his enclosure with Rex, under his coconut hidey hut, which was one of his favorite places to relax when he was in his prime, expecting that this might be where he spends his last hours.

Today, when I got home from work, I checked on him again. Flipping him over into my hand, he moved his mouthparts slightly, but was otherwise unmoving. I believe he is either approaching the end, or he has already passed into the great big rainforest in the sky, and the movements I saw were merely a factor of his muscles responding with no actual life behind them.

I will continue to use this account to post updates of the widower Rex, as well as the four dwarf hissers (Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde/Sue)

Thanks for all the love y'all have shown towards the JJ content the past few months <3 it's nice to know he brought people joy!

henlo everyone i would like to provide an Update today (ignore the date this is just a regular update)

as u may be aware, mom got 4 dwarf hissers a few weeks ago, and they are named after the pac man ghosts, and i thought i'd provide some info on each of them! so here u go:

Inky is a fully-grown male, who is very territorial - if blinky or pinky get too close (but usually blinky), he will chase them off before returning to his typical resting spot. He exhibits no aggression towards clyde/sue, and may be interested in mating with them.

Blinky is the other fully-grown male. He is identifiable by his slightly shorter left antenna, and he always seems intent on causing a ruckus and getting up in everyone else's space (and apart from inky, the others don't seem to mind). He may or may not have a crush on Clyde/Sue, but he is also known for frequently venturing into inky's territory, then being chased off. He is probably the most active of the four

Pinky is smaller than inky or blinky, and may be a juvenile or a small male. Blinky seems to have expressed interest in potentially mating with them, while inky has displayed aggression towards them. Pinky has also displayed potential interest in clyde/sue. They do their best to stay out of the drama between inky and blinky, and they're a bit shy/skittish - usually hiding from the others, and sometimes scuttling away when mom walks by

Clyde/Sue (the name of the fourth ghost in Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man, respectively) is the slightest bit smaller than Pinky, and is tan and black, as opposed to brown and black. They may be a female, or just subadult, and everyone seems to be interested in potentially mating with them. They generally keep to themself and don't seem to mind when other roaches are near them or touching them.

mom brought home 4 new roaches today but they're Small and Different and idk how i feel about them (and Rex keeps chasing them 😭😭😭)
