Johnny Jr is back. Dropped in a custom vintage spec wiring harness, replaced the bridge pickup with an HB1 humbucker and added the Accent vibrato. This isn't a 325 conversion, just a better 320.

If your Rickenbacker sounds muddy, lifeless and shitty, check the wiring harness. This came out of my 35 year old 320 and was totally shot. Dropping in a new harness with other goodies to bring it back to life.
He’s into guitar and piano and playing in this group. He knew all the chords and all that. I spent hours with him trying to work out the lick from ‘My Sweet Lord’ and I couldn’t play the damn thing because I didn’t have anything to do with it. It was George. We had a terrible three hours with Julian furious at me because I didn’t know how to play it.
John Lennon, 1975 (via beataholic925)
I just lol'd at this. My little boy chides me because I can't play every Beatles song on guitar "but Mommy, you should know all the song, you've been playing guitar forever".
Johnny come out and play
John Lennon (9 October 1940 - 8 December 1980)
“If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal.”
All things love and Lennon are eternal.
Cynthia & Julian - From Dot Jarlett’s collection. Edited by me.
I have never seen these. These warm my heart and as a mother to a little boy myself, the love Cynthia has for her son, Julian, is immeasurable.
paul’s just pointing to him like “this is who i have to work with”
The amount of sweat on John’s face is killing me softly ….
John channelling his inner Elvis.
paul’s just pointing to him like “this is who i have to work with”
And that's why Paulie misses John. He's got the moves like Elvis.
John wtf are you doing?
Ahh, John's 'Hitler' routine. He did this quite frequently during these maddening public visits. On some occasions during displays like this, he would get a black comb and put over his top lip during his mocking 'Hitler' routine. I remember reading about him mocking the Germans during their club days and since no one in the audience spoke English, he took cracks at them saying "what did you do during the war?".
Of course these days, anyone doing a Nazi salute would be condemned publicly but not to excuse John or anything but he meant it completely tongue and cheek because he was in awe of the vast power the Beatles had over their fans and the insanity of Beatlemania. Sometimes the 'Hitler' routine would manifest itself during concerts, too, or worse, the cripple routine that he did. Certainly no political correctness in those days.
I guess one would have to 'get' John's warped humor and perception to understand the inside jokes he pulled in public.

I remember that Humperdinck record. My mom had tons of his albums and others, too.
Had to make one of these since no one else did
John and Cynthia Lennon, circa 1965
Actually, this is February 1964 during the Beatles first US trip. This was taken in Miami.
You recognize these guys?
I have never seen any footage from that gig

John Lennon and The Beatles played St. Louis during a rainstorm. August 21st, 1966. How dangerous is that!
That's fucking INSANE!?! Instead of the Fab Four, they almost became the Fried Four. How did anyone not get electrocuted is beyond me.
Interviewer: “He has been one of the most copied rock drummers. Are there any drummers out there that you feel have come close to his style?”
John Paul Jones: “No. Not that I know.”
Happy Birthday to the incomparable John Bonham. There will never be another like you.
I truly feel that Bonham brought the spotlight to drums as more than just musical accompaniment, but as something that can make a statement in song. Others can say that maybe Keith Moon also had that touch. I was never into the Who and as great as Keith was as a drummer, Bonham is the first to have his own distinct sound. Even if you despise Led Zeppelin, it's something that needs to be acknowledged. He was a powerful drummer and used a small kit on the earliest Led Zeppelin records. It's similar to the Ludwig kit Ringo used with the Beatles, if memory serves me correctly.
There's only two other drummers that I can think of who have their own sound: Phil Collins (Genesis and solo work) and Stewart Copeland (The Police). Different in power and expression with a signature tone.
Bonham kicked open the door to bring drums to the musical forefront. Like him or not, he ushered in the modern era of how percussion is used.
John being John.
And this is why I love John. His spontaneous cheeky humor gets me every time. And Paul's reaction is priceless.
