The social identity theory suggests that "To the extent that a leader is perceived to be group prototypicalāthat is, to embody the group (team, organizational) identity, to embody āwho we areāāthe leader derives influence from the implicit perception that he or she represents what is group-normative" (van Knippenberg, 2011, pp. 1079-1080). In relation to this concept, Mcintosh shared with us how the editors chose the covers for his books. Notice the difference between the way the leaders are depicted in each. The English version was chosen by the North American editor; the Spanish version was favored by the Peruvian editor. What differences do you see? What are the implications of these differences in light of the quote?
