Mazda Cosmo 110 S, 1968. For sale in the UK, in recently restored condition, one of only 343 Series 1 examples. The seller claims that this car was caught in the mid-model update making it a very rare “Series Middle” using a Series I short wheelbase chassis and 110hp 982cc 0810 rotary engine but fitted with the updated cosmetic features such as the larger air dam of the Series II.
Offered by dealer Fast Classics for £99,995
It is charming and proof that Mazda was serious about performance cars… but the body looks a little clunky next to the Toyota 2000GT. (I know I shouldn’t say it.)

Lorraine Rally 1965
Ford Mustang III concept, 1964, by Dearborn Steel Tubing Industries. A prototype 2-seat Mustang that had its wheelbase reduced by 16 inches. Dearborn Steel were Ford’s supplier for many show cars of the era, and they wanted to see what a two-seat Mustang might look like. It was powered by a then-experimental version of Ford’s later-ubiquitous 302ci V8. The car survived the crusher which destroyed many of Ford’s experimental prototypes in 1960s and was sold at auction in 2015 for $511,550.
