I got deferred from JMU when I applied early action, and now I am so scared that I won't get in. I got a 1240 on my SAT but my grades in my AP classes weren't that good, I got a couple Cs and a D. JMU is my dream school, I am terrified that I won't be able to go there because of my poor performance.

Transferring from community college to JMU? You think it'll be an easy transition academically and socially?

I have had friends with both experiences! I think if you get good roommates or are involved in clubs or your major then it will be easy to make friends. I hope it works out!

What's it like being a vegan on campus?

I'm a junior in high school and JMU is my dream school. I love every single thing about it! I got a 1060 on my SAT (math and verbal) and I think I need to take it a second time to get in. Would you agree? I have a C in math this year (Pre Calc) bc my teacher is super hard. But other than that I get As and Bs. Do you think I can get in?

I’m not an admissions counselor, so I can’t tell you for sure. I think you should take it if you know you’ll do better. Work on your extra clubs and activities, and write a kick ass personal statement.

So I’m a second semester junior in highschool right now. JMU is my dream school and I really wanna go but idk if I have chance of getting in or not. It seems like they let a variety of ppl in. My gpa isn’t really high I have like a 3.0 and a 1275 on my SAT with lots of community service. Do I have a chance?

ANSWER: To be honest, no. I hate to crush your dreams but 3.0 isn’t really competitive unless you’re a male. Try getting it higher, and round out your resume! I hope it works out!!

Do you know if it is hard to transfer from JMU to UVA or W&M?

I don’t know—but it would depend on your grades, program, etc.

Just found out yesterday that I got into JMU (YAY!) do you have any tips for an upcoming freshman? And what dorm would you say is best?

It depends on what you’re looking for in a dorm. As far as advice, don’t go to JMU just to party…don’t let that be your entire weekend. Get the 14 punch meal plan, and try to make friends in your dorm! Hope that helps.

I got deferred as well, do you think I have a chance at getting in for regular decision? I'm worried because this is my dream school! My gpa is 3.8 and my sat score is 1980. the early action this year was so competitive :/

My stats were similar, and I got deferred from early action! It all just depends, good luck!!

I'm looking at the website, thinking of transferring, but I'm confused by the map. It looks like just about all I see is residence halls. Where are the academic buildings? I'm wondering how far they are from places, especially when it comes to winter trekking

They’re on there! Depending on where you live you can walk to class in 15 minutes! The quad buildings are mixed in with dorms, so that might be confusing!

I feel like people don't like JMU itself, they like drugs and partying. Yes I like to drink and smoke, but I'd like to think I could get a little more mature in college, so I don't party, and I also don't fit in. There's no passion here, no diversity, only gallons and gallons of alcohol to console those who swiped their parent's credit card to purchase it only hours before. I want to leave, but when I tried my father called me "weak." JMU is pretty weak if you ask me.

What is the deal with opposite sex sleeping over dorms? My boyfriend and I go to different schools and want to visit each other... I usually stay over at his school with no problem at all.

I mean…same? Some RAs are strict, but the real problem is…what does your roommate think?

I got in! And I really wanna go but my parents want to keep me close and make me go to a school near home instead, how can I convinced them that jmu is the one dor member? D:

Where is home? I’d say pick two majors, clubs, etc that you can really sell to them!

SUBMISSION

So basically…. I’m stationed in qauntico, I legitimately have no affiliation with JMU, but your girls are gorgeous. What I’m really wondering is, how does an outsider get into these cliques? I’m wondering befriend the guy to get to the girls, befriend the down to earth mediocre looking girls to get to the models. Its already a completely bazarre scenario, so all forms of taboo absurdity is welcome.

I'm a staff member going back for a second bachelors degree through the Adult Degree Program. Been a few years since I was in school and since the requirements are a bit different I will have to take some gen eds. I'm a little concerned about sitting in a class of freshmen at the age of 30.

Actually, I had a professor from the business school in my class this past semester and we loved him!! Congrats on going back :)
