We would just like to thank Austin and Mary for bringing their wonderful Tributes to our Games and brightening up our dashboards! Joan and Cyprus were both wonderful contributions to the Games! You both now have the opportunity to mini-sponsor a Tribute of your choice up until the final battle task is posted!

6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
I tied a small length of bandage around the zombie head so it wouldn’t bite me as I hung it by the hair from my laptop bag, next to the mannequin head.  With the zombies defeated, we left the store with our wheeled apparati in our hands.Â
“Where to?”
“I dunno.  Want to go back to the center of the mall?”
“K.”
Away we walked through the red plaza.
With my hearing returned and my ass away from zombie guards who disapprove of pumped up kicks, I figure that maybe the best idea would be to just carry our new set of wheels. Slipping back into my running shoes and tying the skates’ laces together, I drape them around my shoulders and start walking.
Not wanting to go back up into yellow after seeing the three groups up there earlier, we decide to just skirt past the battle happening in front of us. I see Blake and Salem in the thick of it, and wince. She hasn’t seen me, thankfully, so Cyprus and I run past. I hope she wins. I should have helped.
No.
This is the Games.
I hate myself for having to think that way, but that’s how it is. Cyprus and I are an alliance and we’re going to be sticking together until it’s inconvenient. It’s a good pairing, and we work well together, even though we don’t talk much. We’re efficient.
That’s how I justify thinking about murder.
We make it past the brawl, opening the glass door to make our way to the green section. We’ve just entered the corridor when Cyprus grabs my arm, jerking me backwards. I glance up, spotting Wednesday in front of us. Great. Gritting my teeth, I glance up at Cyprus and nod.
I will drown you in my anger.
5. A Series of Unfortunate Events
Well shit if she was going to be speedy then I needed something to keep up.  But I can’t skate.  But a razor scooter should do the trick.  6BN, it read.Â
13 coins left.  What to buy, what to buy.  It was only now after catching my breath that I realized how parched it was, and the increasing temperature didn’t help.  I removed my leather jacket, rolled it up, and put it in my bag.  2BN for a sports drink.  I swug about half of it with a satisfying gulp. Â
I screeched when I saw something shimmering over by the skating section.  They weren’t the same ones I used back home, but essentially my token (which I forgot to bring because I’m stupid) was laying right there for me.  And they only cost 1 BN?!!?  Hell’s yes I’m buying two yo-yos. Â
That gives me 7 left. Â And since although the arena was getting hot, I knew it could get cold once again. Â I wanted gloves, fencing gloves. Â A pair costs 5BN apparently. Â Not too bad. Â
I was left with a whopping 2 BN and looked to Joan to see if she was ready to go. Â
I definitely heard a yelling noise, and realized it must have come from Cyprus himself. Slowly but surely, my hearing was returning, but taking its sweet time in doing so. I smirked, watching him fawn over the yo-yos. It was an interesting choice, considering our circumstances, but had I known how to even swing one of those things correctly, I probably would have bought one, too.
Seeing that Cyprus has a sports drink, I realize that with the increasing temperature, I’ll probably need one too for threat of dehydration. Grabbing a pink bottle for 2BN, I nod to Cyprus.
“Still pretty much deaf,” I tell him, rolling back and forth in the skates. I fold my sleeves up, adjusting to the heat.
5. A Series of Unfortunate Events
“Okay yeah we’re not trifling with any of this nonsense.  Let’s just–”  I paused.  “You’re still deaf, right.”  I motioned for her to follow me and ignore the people in the yellow wing dealing with their threats. Â
We went as far east as possible, facing a giant store labeled “SPOOOOORTS.”  Knowing there’d probably be some new threat to deal with, we headed inside with our alertness at its peak. Â
Maybe try saying “mah” until you can hear yourself Joan! As you enter the sports megastore there is a section for almost everything imaginable from athletics to running to huntin’ and fishin’ - although it seems as though all of the guns in this section have been taken. If you can imagine it then it’s probably in here. What’s interesting is that all of the more dangerous sports equipment is locked up in glass cabinets. As you explore it seems as though everything is quiet and you’re free to browse at your leisure. Para out an interaction between you about what you discover in the store, after a few replies the Game Makers will intervene.
“All hell broke loose overnight,” I say, and still can’t hear myself talk. I can feel the vibrations and the vague murmur of general sound, but my ears still have pain terrorizing them. He nods, goes to open his mouth to speak, but then probably remembers I can’t read lips, and shakes his head.
I wander around the store, making sure to keep one eye on Cyprus, staying where we can see each other. The last thing I need is to not hear something advancing on me, or not hear his shout for help. But unlike the clothing store we’d visited earlier, this store seemed safe enough for now.
I know what I’m looking for as I walk through the aisles, peeking around corners to make sure Cyprus is nearby. I keep murmuring to myself, trying to test my ears, and every now and again I think I hear progress. Heading to the outdoor activities section, I crouch down, finding exactly what I wanted.
I grab the roller blades, checking the price and nodding. If I want to get anywhere fast - and by the looks of the stores slowly closing and monsters surprise attacking us, I do - I’ll need these. I put the pair of roller blades under my arm, not sure what else I’d really need, but decide that for now, this is enough.
Walking to the counter, I place 5BN down and change out of my shoes and into the blades, tying my shoelaces and draping them over my shoulders. Might as well start using the skates now. Thankful for my flighty feet, I adjust to the wheels nicely, holding onto the counter to steady myself before rejoining Cyprus.

5. A Series of Unfortunate Events
A small bit of the red bath bomb flew out of the exploding mess sailing right onto my cheek. Â It stung as it put a small burn on my cheek. Â I batted the chemical off and clenched my teeth as we turned to leave. Â
“Let’s just go!”  I called out, to see Joan looking confused as she held her ears.  “Oh great you’re deaf now.”  I motioned for her to run after me as we bolted east.  There was a food court on our left but we knew food would be easy to come by later.  For now, we needed to arm ourselves because we were severely lacking. Â
I flinched as I saw the stream of red smack into Cyprus’s face, the world still reeling around me. I finally righted myself, able to keep my balance and shake the nasty vertigo. He looked to me and said something, and it was like he was shouting miles under the sea. I couldn’t make out anything, every sound feeling like a wave of muffled garbage. I shook my head, motioning to my ears.
He squinted and figured it out quickly, muttering something else before flipping his hand a few times. Run, I figured, because he took off afterwards. I followed, easily keeping pace with alongside him, even though we were running as if our lives depended on it. Because it kind of did.
My ears hurt, throbbing with every step I took, but at least it didn’t hinder my performance. We found the food court that was listed on our map, but kept running past it. There was no one in the main cooridors, and for that, I was thankful. It was a clear shot until we got to the yellow section of the arena.
We paused at the entrance, scouting out what we were about to face. To the left, we could see a small girl running around a shop, but she hadn’t left yet. Brunelle! I felt a smile creep onto my face, but knew that I didn’t want to be anywhere near her - I didn’t want to have to fight her. In front of us was another shop going haywire. Through the glass was another girl that I recognized from the anthem and reruns of yesterday’s killings. There was a giant bug in the store, and I was thankful the door was closed and it was contained only to there. Finally, to our right was the group I recognized at the alliance of three. They were stationed at the front of their store, but were preoccupied with someone in a creepy hat.
All three potential threats were dealing with their own issues right now, fortunately for us. Cyprus and I exchanged a look, nodding and running through the yellow section and to the right. We made it without being noticed, and even if we had, they wouldn’t have been able to dislodge themselves from their distractions. Skidding to a stop in the midst of the new red section, the only issue we saw was a brawl between…
“Holy shit,” I muttered, not even able to hear my own voice. Gotta love that White Noise.
5. A Series of Unfortunate Events
It was pretty fortunate of me I’ll admit to actually eat and rest that evening.  The migraine was gone, but a new misery rose to the surface as did fire on the tubs of water, apparently. Â
“Yeah we’re gonna have to move.”  I shout over the screams of White Noise.  Joan clutched her ears as I bolted out.  She better hurry the fuck up if she wants he hearing intact.  As I ran, I dropped 2 bn on the counter and snagged one of the last intact Bottle Rocket bath bombs before sprinting out.  I turned, curious to see where Joan was. Â
I woke up to an angry stomach, and was grateful I still had some food left. I ate the persimmon and half of the sandwich, never much of a breakfast person anyway. We would find more food later.Â
Grateful we hadn’t been killed in our sleep, I stood up from my nest of sponges and stretched. It wasn’t as comfortable a bed as it looked, but it made do. I was sure my hair was a mess. Turning to find a mirror, I stared at my reflection, furrowing my still-dark eyebrows.Â
Right. I had weird grey-peach-white hair now. Turns out the dye was kind of wonky, leaving me with patches of different tones. I didn’t care - I just figured I should try it while I’m here in case I, you know, die.
Smelling a strange scent, even for this store, I turn around and try to figure out what’s causing the change. Even through my thin clothes, I could feel the temperature spike, and I was thankful for my new haircut so I wasn’t immediately sweltering. Flames were licking the sides of the rooms, and all at once, everything went crazy.
Blaring, siren noises bombarded the room, causing me to stumble and clamp my hands over my ears. Water shot down from the ceiling’s sprinklers, dousing the store.
“Fuck,” I managed and made sure my pockets were full of whatever I had taken in there. It was disorienting, and I tried to block out the noise, but it was deafening. I doubled over, gritting my teeth as I tried to focus through the pain reverberating through my ears.
One shaky step at a time, I managed to get out of the store. My ears were ringing and my vision was blurry, pulse pounding in my head to block out any other noise. I really hoped the hearing-loss was temporary, hand clamped over my forehead.
