There are two vegans that constantly fight inside of me.
The first has righteous passion, fury, and sadness. She wants an immediate, full-stop end to animal suffering, human exploitation, environmental destruction, and to scream and shout and cry at every non-vegan to get their heads out of their asses to go vegan NOW. Immediate action or burn it all down!
The second is gentle, patient, and maternal. She has limitless compassion, taking in every individual’s circumstances and journeys with grace and humility. She wants to reassure and coddle and promote calm fortitude in the face of real, lived obstacles people face with veganism. Any step to veganism is a good step!
My advice is that you need both of these personas inside you. You need the righteous anger, but the humility to understand when to use it.
