For years friends have texted, e-mailed and posted on my Facebook Wall: “Were you in Mrs. Doubtfire!?”Â
For years I’ve responded, "No, I’m not Robin Williams and Sally Field’s older daughter. And yes, I know I look a lot like her."
For years, my real sister has joked that we had another sister out there who we needed to find. She even circled her picture on the Mrs. Doubtfire VHS box when she was about 6 years old.Â
Today through the wonders of the Internet I found the real girl who played  Lydia Hillard. Actually, through one Twitter conversation she found me.Â
Lisa Jakub, which I’ll admit is a name I’ve Googled many times over the years, tweeted to me. And well the mystery of what my doppelgänger looked like now was solved. (Spoiler: It appears we both still have unruly curly hair and big cheeks.)Â
Turns out Jakub and I now have something else in common — she is a writer. And a very good one at that. She is writing a book about her experience as a child actor and sharing some anecdotes on her blog.
It’s really interesting stuff and worth reading. Although, I am disappointed to hear she doesn’t get any money every time she appears on TBS and I get one of those texts or messages.Â
