An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It’s been approximately 2000 years, but here’s my first Genghis Khan fic I worked waaayyy too hard on.
this is the best thing ive ever seen
its like bff necklaces but instead of “bff” theyre “im going to Fucking Destroy you”
Okay so this is definitely an appropriate gift for that special nemesis, but given the particular role of antibodies in the immune system, “you are coming down with me, hand in unlovable hand” is also an apt meaning and there has never been a better time to be alive

The subject of Villain’s book
I know I’m not the only one that wondered what book Villain was reading at the end of the GK music video while in bed next to Agent.
Luckily for all of us, I was able to find out! Big thanks to @niniandoff for messaging me on instagram after I asked him about it through a comment on one of his photos. I’ll write here what he said, word for word:
“So it was actually a unique book we made for the film but really annoyingly no one has the book or a photo of it anymore. If I remember correctly it was a self help book about learning to love and stop killing people or something like that!”
So I think we can all safely assume that Villain discontinued being villainy after the events of this video!
This is honestly such a good discovery, but something’s still bothering me. If he stopped being a supervillain, why is he still wearing the same uniform when he comes home from work?
He probably is still the head of his organization. And because he’s stopped being a supervillain, I think he’s turned around his organization to do good instead. And that makes this even more adorable.
Imagine: A dance off between the henchmen from Genghis Khan and the Soviets from My Trigger.
The henchmen stand still but do the thing where they bob their heads and pat their arms against their legs. The soviets go up and down and occasionaly walk back and forth while doing the hand wiggle. Everyone pretends to be impressed as to not hurt their feelings.
I can’t believe this is canon guys
Alright so if we’re gonna make a full-on, detailed theory about how My Trigger is actually a prequel to Genghis Khan, I wanna start off with this: Wife ends up teaming up with Marylin Monroe, who holds a grudge against Hero/JFK, but the two women end up falling in love with each other instead.
My friend @theprocrastinatinggiraffe were making up headcannons on what happened in the Genghis Khan MV by Miike Snow, which if you have not seen or heard of, ya needa.

omg the new "my trigger" video is continuation of genghis khan!!
Sorry to say it’s not! The director said it’s more of a double bill, meaning it’s not a sequel, but the same actors in a different plot, playing different characters. Though I’m sure it will be just as good as, or better than, Genghis Khan.

Do they actually have name? If so what are they or what are the names that everyone calls everyone in the music video by? I'm just curious!
Nope, there’s no canon names! People have started coming up with their own names to make it easier, and some have started using names others came up with. I think part of the fun is choosing or thinking of a name for the characters. Basically nothing is set in stone.
This blog uses “villain” and “hero” because the director of the video, Ninian Doff, answered this ask about the names used on set, and I decided to go with that so it’s clear and all.
Now we’re talking about it, would anyone be interested in a list with the names that have been used for the characters so far?
But the thing that has, does, and will continue to fuck me up about the Genghis Khan video is the choreography. The supervillain’s solo steps are so tense, so awkward; technically he’s got the rhythm right, but his motions are so ill-suited to his own body. He’s so inflexible – so passionate, but so stiff!
And then, when the secret agent reciprocates, the steps become so much more fluid. Leaps and stretches appear that weren’t there before. The supervillain is simply a better dancer with the secret agent as a partner.
The secret agent is the better dancer of the two of them, no doubt; he’s naturally suited to it, I think, more graceful and probably more rehearsed on his own. Where the supervillain stumbles or shifts, he sticks his spot and keeps his moves light and easy. Even so, the impressive thing is how the sense they have for each other is so well-expressed. The types of steps they employ to represent symmetry despite antithesis, and they know each other’s timing – they catch one another, meet one another, rally to the same spot and move in the same line.
Think of how that looks against the bursts of infuriated, unstudied motion that make the villain look really rather ridiculous and graceless.
For as little screen time as it takes up, the choreography really packs in a lot of the reasoning we could want to have about WHY the supervillain is in love with the secret agent, especially in the absence of any kind of exposition.
Hero is always bragging about how skilled villain is and how he only just got away on his last mission. A lot of people think praising his villain is his way of bragging about himself, but in all actuality he’s completely genuine and just very impressed with him.
Meanwhile villain is always like “He’s a very skilled agent, he always manages to slip by me god dammit” while the henchmen are like sure boss, it’s not like you’ve been giving him the opportunity to escape in the first place or something.
Hero likes his martini’s stirred, not shaken but he always gets the latter because of the job (and the outfit) and it pisses him off.
Casual headcanon that while Villain and Ex-wife have some awkward tension after their divorce, they stay amicable when trading off time with the kids because they shouldn't suffer.
.
what do you think some potential lyrics for those duets between hero and villain would be?
Oooh boy that’s a hard one. Exact lyrics would take a while to think up but it would depend on the situation, really. If someone has any suggestions, send them in! I’ll try to think of some too.
Hero’s first father’s day living with villain and the kids, he doesn’t expect anything for father’s day. That’s why it only stings a bit when the kids thriumphantly present a drawing they made to villain. Before they’ve had the chance to properly look at it, the girl reveals something else behind her back: a second drawing. When you put them together, it makes a drawing of villain, hero, the henchmen, the house, and wife, too. When hero hears the second drawing is for him, his whole face lights up.
