Plantraits by Anthony Samaniego

Los Angeles-based photographer Anthony Samaniego is most known for his stunning dreamy cityscape photography of Los Angeles. Following the pink haze from his Los Angeles series in his project Plantraits, Samaniego showcases his incredible eye for textures and colors. Deeply ethereal and otherworldly, the photographer’s work takes an unconventional approach when photographing nature’s most beautiful subject: flowers. The images take the shape of pastel hues from a chimerically exquisite planet in our dreams, which are out of focus and vague. Like the flower, Samaniego ‘s technique resembles its grace and delicacy.

I’ve tried spending an afternoon in a café quite a few times in the past and it was always stressful due to lack of time and too many plans and never as lovely as it sounded beforehand. But today, I came into a café in a foreign city with no plans at all and just did what I felt like doing. I had some coffee, wrote to a dear friend on a whim, took some photos, wrote into my diary and smiled at strangers, and unlike all those other times, it was one of the best afternoons that I spent on my own.
