Good news, for those of you who like to see authors be awkward in person! The Lady Janies are going on tour.
Salt Lake City - June 26 is your day, at 7pm at the SLC Public Library! King’s English will be selling books.
Denver! - You get June 27 at the Tattered Cover Bookstore at 7pm!
And Phoenix/Tempe! - June 28 is the day, at Changing Hands Bookstore, also at 7pm
Reasons you should come see us:
1. We’ll sign your book. All three of us.
2. We’ll sign other books you bring us, too (that we wrote).
3. Cynthia likes to find us hats, and at the appointed time, we put on our hats and we do a dramatic reading of our book. Warning: once, someone fell out of her chair from laughing so hard. So...seatbelts, friends. Safety first.
4. Chances are that Brodi will say something really embarrassing, and trust me, you don’t want to miss that. If she doesn’t say anything embarrassing, we’ll tell you about other times she did.
5. I mean, we are coming all the way to see you...
If you can’t come see us because you live too far away:
1. Any of these stores will ship you a book. (International readers, double check, but many stores will ship to you.)
2. Sorry. If we could go everywhere, we would. But $$$.
What else?
1. Tell someone to come see us if they live near one of these stores.
2. Preorder MY PLAIN JANE from one of these stores, or wherever you like to buy books.
3. Here’s what the book is about:
Move over, Charlotte Brontë. The authors of the New York Times bestselling My Lady Jane are back with an irreverent spin on Jane Eyre—a tale of mischief, romance, and supernatural mayhem perfect for fans of The Princess Bride or A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
You may think you know the story. Penniless orphan Jane Eyre begins a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester—and, Reader, she marries him. Or does she?
Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions in this stand-alone follow-up to My Lady Jane, which was called “an utter delight” (ALA Booklist, starred review), and “an uproarious historical fantasy that’s not to be missed” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).
4. Here are some nice things that people said about it:
★ “Holds all the flavor of a juicy period novel yet with the addition of numerous, witty asides. Full of wry humor and laugh-out-loud commentary. The authors’ affection for their source material is abundantly clear in this clever, romantic farce.” (Publishers Weekly (starred review)) ★ “A delightfully deadpan deconstruction of a Gothic novel, with a ghost almost no one can see providing the commentary. Marvelously self-aware and almost too clever for its own good.” (Booklist (starred review)) ★ “A madcap story of ghosts, possession, revenge, and murder. Humorously blends fact with fiction and offers a gentler, more hopeful outcome for Charlotte, her siblings, and her heroine.” (School Library Journal (starred review)) “Reader, it delighted. A fun, supernatural mashup of different literary novels that shines on its own merit.” (Kirkus Reviews)
