Industrial Meets Fun

The Joe Bender toys have their own unique stamp of “Industrial Meets Fun” design. These characters with their galvanized steel frame covered in colorful plastic are not quite sure whether they should be taken seriously or simply relegated to the toy box. They are just as comfortable being displayed in the Museum of Modern Art as they are being sold at a quaint artistic Mom-and-Pop store.

The Benders “fun” is created by their signature use of black with bold primary and secondary colors. This fun merges into industrial with the use of the wire-frame body with magnetic hands and feet. The Benders flexible, posable bodies become mini art mannequins — an open canvas that is form, function, and playful fun all in one.

In addition, each Joe Bender has a unique metal storage tin. The metal container is as creative as the wire figure itself and often doubles as an extension of its character. For example, Camping Joe Bender comes packaged inside his own green pup tent; the top of Skateboard Joe’s metal tin is his skateboard; and Kayaking Joe, along with his oars, is neatly packed inside his colorful metal kayak.

Maybe Joe Bender can be taken seriously and be allowed to just be fun. There is no need to delegate only one distinction. Just like the industrial style itself, Joe Bender toys mix well with everything.

When you get right down to it, Joe is just your average lovable, flexible, bendable, posable magnetic sculpture. He stands only about 3-inches tall but has huge personality … magnetic, you may even say. His wire frame is covered in a bright, colorful plastic coating. His hands and feet contain magnets so Joe can easily stick to anything metal which allows for fun poses. Joe’s container tin is his home and, at times, his podium or soapbox. With an open canvas like Joe, all you have to do is add fun!
