With the end of the Old Lodge upon us, the Owl has let us take from the walls. I have been sketching out my next few pieces today with my bounty. I’ve beeb working on a series of collages using stuff I have gathered from Black Lodge. I also cut out large portions of the walls because I didn’t want to destroy the artwork of Matthew Martin. Those will be matted like prints and signed by the Owl himself to go with the my collage work in an upcoming show. Keep an eye out for the final workings
A couple of sketches I did while sitting at my favorite coffee shop.
Composition VIII - Wassily Kadinsky
Wassily Kandinsky
So for the next week I will be practicing my line work looking at Kandinsky and many other of the Bauhaus artists
Today was a big day. I finished my first artwork since I left school. When I left school a year ago, I ran into a huge wall and haven't been able to work up any ideas. I recently found some old test prints from a copper etching I made in school I never finished, so I'm going to finally finish them. Too excited about it.

“That’s not bad. I can’t get excited by a man until he’s forty-two.”
"Holly Golightly was a young woman who saw herself as a mature woman, when in reality she was a reckless child who did not want to stop. What she saw as her maturity was truly her downfall. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a tale by the author Truman Capote about two men who track down a wayward child on the road to ruin and help her escape from her deviant life in New York.
The unnamed narrator is a writer who was contacted by an old acquaintance, Joe Bell, about someone they both new, Miss Holiday Golightly. An African sculpture that directly resembled Holly was mailed to Joe Bill by an old neighbor of Miss Golightly. She and the narrator were also neighbors in an old brownstone in the East Seventies of New York. One night when they lived in the brownstone, being chased after by another older gentlemen who act as a puppy to the nineteen year-old, Holly wanders up the fire escape to the narrator while he was refilling his brandy. That was the first time they genuinely meet each other. After passing each other by several times, and her constant buzzing his apartment because she lost her key. They talk. She calls him “Fred.”
The narrator then jumps back to the twelve years later, where he and Joe Bill are trying to track a man down by phone. This man, O.J. Berman, knew where Holly was. She had been arrested but was sick in the hospital, and Berman had a man going to pay her bail as a favor he owed her. “Fred” went to hospital where she was, and she explained to him her plan to skip bail and flee to Rio. The whole time, three Italian women, who are sharing the hospital room with Holly, are judging “Fred” thinking he is her downfall, due to miscommunication.
With her running away to Joe Bell’s bar because of the brownstone was being watched, “Fred” gathers her clothes, a bottle of hundred-year-old brandy from the bottom of her hamper, her guitar and her cat. Being clawed in a downpour with the paper bags of things breaking and spilling, he makes it to the bar. After a toast of the brandy between Holly and “Fred,” a Carey Cadillac limousine pulls up outside the bar. It was called by Joe Bill to take Holly to the airport.
After abandoning her cat in Spanish Harlem, Holly makes it to the airport with “Fred” and he sees her off to Rio de Janiero, Brazil, where she will end up digging some more gold out of an old rich man. She only contacted “Fred” once after that, via postcard signed by a kiss."
My summary of the novella, Breakfast at Tiffany's, by Truman Capote in my report on the novella and how it relates to the themes in my Art and Design: The 1950s class.
