I think the hardest part about saying goodbye is knowing we won’t see each other again. Yesterday we said goodbye to my grandfather Nicanor Jocson. Over the last couple days I got the chance to reunite with family and remember the memories we shared with him over the years and learned more about the man we called Lolo. Issac Asimov said, “Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” Last night, my grandfather Lolo Nicanor Jocson passed away at the age of 96. I’m glad to have these last few year with you and for you to meet your grandson Warner Nicholas (for those that don’t know his middle name was named after him). In a year that continues to challenge us, one thing stay constant and that’s family. I’m so thankful for the family that had my back throughout the year. To my son for being home for his first thanksgiving at home and the friends I’ve reunited with. Thankful for new friends as well and those I met along the way. I think a lot of Power Ranger fans can agree this man is a true legend in for the last thirty years. I met JDF in 2013 at C2E2 and he got to hold one of my trading cards for this photo op. Today is World Prematurity Day, a Day to raise awareness of premature birth and the sometimes devastating impacts on families. Over the last year, I’m hearing stories of their children born prematurely. You may remember my son was born at 29 week and weighing in at 2lbs. Today, he’s almost 13 months old and weighing almost 23 lbs. My son, you’ve been on quite the journey so far. 90 days in the NICU, several doctor visits, a couple of trips to the ER. You’ve had to endure so much in one year. But in between those rough patches, you learned a lot and ate a lot too. You grew from a 2 pound 12 Oncer to a 20 pound kid. You’ve got quite the road ahead you and a lot more to see. Chicago shows up for each other. -Slyvie Brett: Chicago Fire 8X13 Ten years ago today, Chicago Fire premieres on NBC and ushered in a new universe connected with shows like Law & Order & FBI. Eventually the show spun off with a medical, a law and a police procedural show. All these spin-offs would be interconnected into the #OneChicago Universe within the #WolfPack My friends and I have been fortunate to watch and become a part of this universe in the last ten years. Met some really great people along the way and from time to time, interacted with the cast as well. I’m so happy how far they’ve come and I’m happy to have been a part of the ride.
