You know what people need to start doing? Appreciate bad characters.

Now I’m not talking like badly written characters who’s only purpose is to let other characters grow. No I’m talking about the characters who are bad just to bad, their character development is just seeing how bad they can get. How fucked up can they go.

Being bad is just as interesting as a character trying to be good. If we didn’t have villains we wouldn’t have heroes, all our favorite heroes would be so boring if they didn’t have an interesting villain.

An example of a good bad guy: Joker Yeah so many people hate him, so many people can’t stand him. But the thing is if you hate joker with all your might, you don’t want to see him in anything or every time you see him you wanna punch him in the face. Well that’s how you know he’s written well. Because he’s a bad guy you aren’t supposed to like him, he’s supposed to be abusive and do fucked up things. Joker isn’t anywhere near my favorite character list but he’s definitely my favorite villain. He’s just fucked up to be fucked up, maybe to try and get the bats attention but mostly just to be fucked up

So I think people need to start likening the bad characters just because their bad. That character with the addiction that makes them do shitty things, good character. That character who’s just cruel just because, good character. That egocentric character who only looks out for themselves, good character. Can’t we just start liking or even appreciate bad characters?

often enough villains are far more interesting than the “good guy”, usually just because now that superhero films/comics are blowing up and saturating both markets, its easier to stay safe with protagonists that aren't too complex, obviously this is only the case with a few series’, for example Peter Parker in Spiderman homecoming has so many layers to him, that you find watching him just as interesting as watching the villain, the difference is most of the time writers can afford to add the extra layer to a villain like Loki for instance, because he doesn’t need to be around all of the time, and so he can be flawed and do things that the heroes cant, because they can have the audience hate him, whilst appreciating the charm and nuance which was written into him, because nobody is rooting for Loki when he’s trying to take over earth

Is there such a thing about “good” and “bad” tastes in film?

I came out of the cinema with my mate after watching suicide squad for the first time, i'd essentially just paid about £20 to watch a terribly put together piece trying its absolute hardest to be as much like Guardians of the galaxy as it possibly could, so i wasn't in the best of moods. Anyway, the first words that came out of my friends mouth after we left were "fuck the critics, that was SICK" to which i hadn't felt more disdain for anyone in my entire life. I didn't have a go at him or anything, i'm not a twat, but it got me thinking that he's also pretty adamant that back the future part three was the best of the trilogy, he also insists that the new pirates of the Caribbean films are far better than the old. Is he just the 'type' of person to, when asked if he wants to watch Indiana Jones, say yes as long as its "the one with Shia LaBeouf"?. Before this event i was under the impression that there were certain films in which everyone agreed were bad, but now i'm not so sure, because he seems to be clueless that anybody else thinks this, and is absolutely adamant that he's right.
