I really don't like the whole gatekeeping thing (ie, being mean or dismissive of new fans or fans that you think are new) either. Shouldn't we all be happy that more and more fans are creating content to celebrate him rather than be rude about it?

This is my point exactly. Also labeling people as “new fans” is problematic to me. Because I’m only a “new fan" of his on SOCIAL MEDIA. Prince has virtually been in my world in some form or fashion since I was a child. I have been a personal follower of his work FOR YEARS. so don’t put me in this box. Keep your reserves to your damn self.

Prince, I think, definitely appreciates anyone who introduces newbies to his stuff, whether it be “Little Red Corvette” or “FixUrLifeUp”, he was all about showing everybody what real music was, how important God was, and how fun it is to live in the moment. I honestly don’t think there’s such things as “"new fans”“ because EVERYBODY in one time or another, has heard something by the amazing musician that is nicknamed The Artist. I feel like he’s very very appreciative of all of us, for keeping his legacy alive, even though the only thing that left this world was his physical self. His spirit is everywhere, and I believe with all my heart, that he’s smiling down at all of his ”“friends”“ (fans.) old & new and saying;

“keep groovin and keep spreading the truth.”
