Lesson this month: Love
I think love is an uphill struggle.
It is painful, it is disappointing, and it is frustrating.
It is angry words, and crying, and having regrets and puffy eyes.
It is wishing you can do more for the other half, changing your bad habits so they do not suffer, growing so they enjoy a better you.
Love is not easy. And it never will be.
But, I think love is also sweet.
It is also rewarding, it is also hopeful, and it is also joyful.
It is laughing and teasing, and loving touches, and having pet names and secretive conversations.
It is going through a routine of steps 1 to 10 daily and being perfectly happy with it, being frightened yet impatient for the long future of togetherness, growing old and walking on the streets hand in hand.
I think love is all that.
So, love has to be compromising.
It is giving in to odd cravings, it is putting up with quirks, it is being amused with flaws.
It is laughing and trying again when the other half is frustrated with your fourth death in a single stage of a cooperative game, and trying all dishes the other half makes and being honest about them, and sharing whatever work that come so you can have quality time.
It is never being calculative, it is resolving conflicts as quickly as possible, it is growing and urging and being supportive for the other person no matter what.
Love, is making the other person the happiest person in the world - even if it makes you less happy - willingly, again and again.
And as he was good enough to remind me, love is not a movie. Real love is all that above, I think, with its disappointments and sweet moments.
I hope to say I found a love like this. I think I may have found it in him.
