hello friend!! I’m now 200 pages into asos (I think I’m doing pretty good with my goal of reading 100 pages a day 😛) here are some of my thoughts so far (and I’ll be sending the rest after I finish)

my list of ppl is asoiaf that I have a crush on has expanded. arys oakheart, pylos, and now roose bolton. (ik he’s evil but like…)

moving on

first of all, olenna tyrell is an icon and I need more of her now. I just LOVE old characters that are wise but also funny. she reminds me of my mom too 😭

second, I think it was kinda dumb for catelyn to let that mf go. she had NO certainty that she’d get arya and sansa back and yet she let him go.

third, in addition to that, why on earth would robb go and marry someone else 😭 like I get it but at the same time it was so stupid

fourth, I need jorah mormont to DIE. I am DISGUSTED by him. I didn’t like him at the beginning and I hate him now. I need my queen Dany to burn him. I need him to suffer. however I’m very glad I got a dany chapter so early in the book. there was so little of her in agot and acok.

I’m convinced roose bolton is a vampire. and like, yeah I hate the guy, he’s a classic unredeemable villain. but he’s soo intriguing. so basically, I understand your crush 🫣

THE TYRELLS. I LOVE THE TYRELLS. I love it when the lannisters are either narratively or literally looked at in contrast to another Great House (like the Starks in AGOT and ACOK), and you can see just how fucked up they are. olenna is a queen, loras is my fav loverboy, margaery is underrated. I would love to know more about their family dynamics.

catelyn just keeps making dumb decisions I fear 🫪 but I can never truly fault her for it because I fully understand why she did what she did. honestly robb should have exchanged jaime for the girls as soon as possible and just marched back home. everyone would be the better for it, especially the poor riverlanders.

yeah robb went to the ned stark and catelyn tully school of bad decisions, so he was doomed from the start truly.
