GLOWS OMINOUSLY
Every post I see in the malevolent fandom goes something like this:
The most heartfelt, gut wrenching beautiful piece of writing, analysis or art you've ever seen
...
and the user name is Arthur Lester's Left Nostril's Nose Hairs
We built this fandom brick by brick
we built this city on various parts of the human anatomy
Jon Sims and Arthur Lester both look like they’d be 80 pounds sopping wet and have more scars than an alley cat but the difference is that Arthur lived in the 1900’s and isn’t supernatural so he could kill Jon with his bare hands. Yes even with Jon’s spooky eye thing. He’d be like “Ceaseless Watcher Turn Your Gaze Upon This Wretched Thing” and Arthur’d be like “I’m blind idiot” and murder him with a rock.
This post is on my mind way too often
Posting my own Bluesky post to tumblr to show off me and my spouse’s @john-does-eyes used bookstore haul.
[Image ID: a Bluesky post by Real Husband Hours @mortimerdeadsea.bsky.social. It reads “What listening to @malevolent.bsky.social does to a motherfucker.” With it is a picture of two stacks of books. One features various anthologies of H. P. Lovecraft’s work as well as The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers. The second stack is various poetry collections by E. E. Cummings, Sylvia Plath, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Anne Sexton, W. H. Auden, and John Keats.]
"I'm done with fanart for now!" I lied immediately. He's like if Brennan's monologue was an entire person.
Bonus:
happy birthday arthur lester . may you have a day full of joy because lord knows you need it

FUCK this post and happy birthday Arthur Lester
Y'all know what's better than one limb blog?
TWO LIMB BLOGS
Y'all know what's better than one limb blog?
lilith being a narrative foil to john is quite interesting
that whole conversation about lilith's history and entrapment and falling for arthur's humanity is almost exactly what happened to john.
will have to do a thorough relisten to make more points but jesus christ
I wonder– since Lillith specifies that she's the daughter of Nyarlathothep and not Kayne– if Lillith isn't this Kayne's daughter. It's possible that she's the child of one of the other universe's Nyarlathotheps that Kayne killed in becoming Kayne.
Arthur you are blind
"I can see" no Arthur. John can see.
ok listen I know we're shitting on arthur "personally visited one afterlife and has secondhand accounts of at least two others" lester for saying he doesn't believe there's anything after death BUT we have to remember that all this eldritch nonsense is relatively new to him. He is, habitually, a vociferous ex-christian who hates himself and blames himself for the deaths of his family. He doesn't believe that he deserves to see Bella and Faroe and Parker again. He doesn't want to be rewarded with that upon death because then he'll have to come to terms with the possibility that they blame him as well, or, even worse, that they DON'T. That's been his state of mind for probably near on ten years now. He's not gonna shift that cornerstone just because he learned that ghosts are real
and the thing is y'know. arthur being so unwilling to leave anyone behind. really makes you think about the one person he did.
