Sometimes the best gifts are the ones God waits to bless you with. Getting to celebrate the last four months with my best friend, spending time with both of our families, and being able to do it all during the most wonderful time of the year has been truly special.

Today may be the day to give thanks, but I've been so thankful every single day the last few months for every moment I've been blessed enough to be yours. (at Tiger Stadium)

As #HillcrestMonth comes to a close, I have found myself reminiscing on the many memories of this past summer. While there were several highlights of the six weeks I spent in Hillcrest cabin, none of them would have been the same without Nicholas Wayne Heyse. Nick was an amazing counselor from the very first day and always went above and beyond to make sure that his little brothers and the other Hunks were always in the best of health and spirits, even going so far as to check on my Dexcom every few hours while I slept throughout the night. But this didn't just end on Day 20. It has continued the entire time I have been in Baton Rouge. On multiple occasions, Nick has texted and called me to make sure I'm treating a low or high after getting a Dexcom notification. He's even gone as far as to call LSU PD and follow them into my dorm room to make sure I'm okay. Nick has easily been one of the best and most involved counselors I've ever had and without a doubt the best big brother I ever had at Sweeney. The friendship and compassion that Nick has extended far beyond what was required or expected of him and has been one of the best friends I could ask for in the last few months. Whether it's checking up on me and my blood sugars, helping me schedule classes, helping me study... you name it, Nick has been there to help me out however he can. Although life took some time to bring us into each other's lives, I'm sure that it will not be short lived. Nick, thank you for all of the memories, advice, help, and everything you've done in my life in this short time. I love ya homie!
