It depends on what specific subgenre of horror we’re talking about. If we’re talking slashers, I really like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Behind The Mask is also a really good meta deconstruction of the genre too.

For body horror, you can’t go wrong with The Fly! But for a recent one, The Substance was incredible.

I’m not huge on possession or paranormal movies, but I mean. You gotta like The Exorcist.

Shaun of the Dead is probably my favorite zombie movie. Top tier parody stuff right there!

I also liked the Saw movies too, actually. A lot of people think they’re just gore with no story but there’s actually a crazy amount of story in them.

OH AND THE EVIL DEAD FRANCHISE IS SO GOOD TOO!!
