ESSENTIALLY:

toast dies on a mission with ghost lowkey brutally honestly

gavin uses this as an opportunity to infiltrate PIE and destroy it (by pretending to be toast)

ghost, despite his better knowledge, lets himself fall for it hook line and sinker out of grief and just wanting toast around even if its a bastardisation of him (gavin)

gavin gets Bothersomely attached to living his brothers life and has a conflict of interest where he doesnt rlly Wanna enact his evil destroy pie scheme anymore. also has some moral issues with what hes doing and starts lowkey feeling guilty for stringing ghost along like this (who has deluded himself into genuinely believing gavin is toast)
