Peter Parker, also known as the popular superhero ‘Spiderman’, is roughly 16-17 years old, meaning he was born in either 2001 or 2002. Contrary to popular belief, this place him firmly in the ‘Gen Z’ category, rather than the millennial category that many place him in. By extrapolating this information, we can conclude that Peter Parker not only knows what a furry is, but constantly has to grapple with the fact that his spider-centric identity is, in fact, his fursona. In this essay I will-

William Leathers, 17, was one of three undergraduate trumpeters accepted this year to Julliard, the prestigious arts school in New York City. But his tuition as an international student works out to over $90,000 per year - a cost he and his family can’t afford.
It’s an opportunity most young musicians only dream of, the chance to attend The Julliard School in New York City.
And William Leathers, a 17-year-old from Toronto, was one of the three trumpeters this year given that chance.
Leathers auditioned and was accepted to the school’s elite undergraduate music program — something that gives him a chance to learn from some of the best in the world.
“I just want to be the best musician I can be,” Leathers told CBC Toronto’s Dwight Drummond Monday.. “I want to do well in every genre.”
But his acceptance came at a cost, a $364,000 cost over four years to be exact.

Youcaring: Help me go to Juilliard!
Info from the page above:
“Thanks for coming to my YouCaring page! My name is William Franklyn Leathers, and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I’ve been playing the piano since the age of four, and when I was 12 years old, I became the youngest trumpeter accepted into the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as the Halton Mississauga Youth Orchestra. So it was a dream come true for me when I received my acceptance letter to The Juilliard School, since I’m one of only three trumpeters that were accepted to Juilliard this year. The biggest challenge for me, right now, is being able to cover tuition and housing expenses. My parents are doing their best, but right now we’re in a bit of a funding shortfall. The total cost for Juilliard is $71,000 in US dollars per year for four years, which comes out to roughly $91,000 every year in Canadian dollars. We’ve been able to put together about $25,500 so far, and unfortunately scholarships and grants are harder to come by as an international student. So I’m raising money to at least cover the first year, and we’ll see where it goes from there.
I’ve wanted to go to Juilliard for as long as I can remember, and I’ll never forget the look on my parents’ face when we opened the acceptance letter. But the reality is, there’s a pretty big gap between what our family can come up with, and what it costs for tuition, housing, and books. So if you can find it in your heart to help, my family and I would appreciate it so much. Thanks again, and I hope to make everyone proud!

“And I think when you have suicide rates going up, when you have the bullying, when you have maybe even the drug usage because people are not feeling comfortable being their unique selves, because of the societal norms and the pressures of conforming or because they feel like they have to erase parts of them because they’re not socially accepted, I felt like through my truth it could help other people walk in their truth and breathe a little easier.”

Being in a mid-2000s High School Health class and they show you this on DVD
Didn’t that turn out to be a load of bullshit that no-one can replicate the results of to this day?
Yep! His results were faked, and the entire film was basically anti-McDonald’s scaremongering, “poor people are stupid” and “fat people don’t get any sex”. It’s also thanks to this asshat that McDonald’s can’t advertise fuckin’ Happy Meals anymore and had to get rid of all their characters and their super size option, particularly because he claimed without evidence that they have a kid-fattening agenda, don’t list their nutritional info anywhere and have a mission statement from their CEO to make people sick and unhealthy from eating there for every single meal. On top of this, he actually tried to claim in a bonus experiment that McDonald’s fries aren’t actually fries because they don’t rot when left in an airtight container for a long time but all the burgers do–which is thanks to the oil and salt they’re loaded with, not some big conspiracy where the fries, which are processed and supplied by McCain in Canada, aren’t actually goddamn chopped potatoes–and equated the containers to a human stomach. Yes, cause the human stomach is an airtight container that food sits in for months, right? Spurlock, did veganism turn your brain completely off or something? Hell, the fucker even tried to claim credit for McDonald’s having salads, falsely stating at one point they didn’t have any before he “exposed” their EVIL PLANS.
Yeah, that’s another thing to remember, he’s apparently a vegan. He didn’t let anyone know he’s one, of course, he only mentioned his girlfriend is one, because it would’ve made his vomiting after a single McDonald’s meal, something literally no one else on the planet has done, seem less ZOMG SCARY.
Want a good film of this nature? Try Tom Naughton’s Fat Head instead, a film where a guy actively proves Spurlock wrong by actually losing weight while eating nothing but fast food for a month. He accomplishes this by NOT fucking gorging himself on the unhealthiest food choices, eating more meals than he claims or cutting out his usual physical activity. While he’s at it, he also exposes exactly why Spurlock is a total fraud. In the process, he gets actual doctors and nutrition experts to help him explain why everything you know about healthy eating is probably wrong or half-true, inform us about good and bad cholesterol, expose the real reasons behind the so-called “obesity epidemic” and point out why fat =/= unhealthy by default. Yeah, Naughton encourages viewers to try the paleo diet in the end, but at least it comes off more as a suggestion and doesn’t demonize anyone in the process.
Wow, everything I know is now a lie.
Also, to elaborate on this, Spurlock claimed that he was eating 5,000 calories a day, and yet when a Swedish university tried this very experiment with several different students, no one (I repeat, no one) could even come close to replicating the results.
So yeah, Spurlock basically lied to prove a point, who would have guessed
he was also apparently vegan for years before doing this, so of course his body would have a bad reaction to all that red meat.
god this video fuckin traumatized me. ibe been shown this, pretty much forcibly, 6 or 7 times throughout my school career. once a year for 6 or 7 years out of 13. do you realize how fucked that is? the rampant fat shaming is bad enough (got fucktons of that too. ive always been a big guy. bulky yanno?) my entire class always looked at me and this one girl with a glandular problem.
this movie lead to years of bullying and people taking my fucking lunch in middle school cause they said “id had enough fast food for the month”. i developed an eating disorder. this is half the reason i hate my body.
yeah, america, be healthier, but dont fucking shove your fatshaming, poorshaming bullshit down anyones throat. fuck spurlock and any other ludicrous fuck that still believes him.
Every time I was shown this movie in school, I would show up the next day with McDonald’s for lunch and eat it while not breaking eye contact with the teacher who forced us to watch it
This might come as a shock to some of you but saying “I’m not informed enough on this particular topic to have an opinion” is about 100 times more respectable than being misinformed
I know in school they often teach us that ‘I don’t know’ is the worst possible answer and that you are better off making your best guess than admitting ignorance, but that’s because the educational system is a dumpster fire, and this is a habit that it pays to un-learn.
Have you ever heard someone say something SO straight that you can’t even process it right away? Like it’s not homophobic or ignorant or anything its just SO straight that you have to sit there for a few minutes silently because your queer brain can’t even process it?
fuck that’s valid
when someone’s dog comes up to me for attention and its owner says “oh yeah he’s a real playboy, really into the ladies” and are you trying to imply your dog is hitting on me. your goddamn dog.

Reblog if you are a greedy gay hoarding refracted light all for your greedy gay self
I totally am, but also: I have a story. The time: 1995. The place: a small liberal arts college. We decided to participate in “denim day” which was a widespread event wherein on National Coming Out Day, you would wear denim to indicate SUPPORT FOR the LGBT community. Our support group made posters that were very, very clear about this. Wearing denim did not mean that you were coming out, it meant you supported anyone around you who might.
I have never seen so many suits and khakis IN MY LIFE. People who accidentally wore jeans went home and changed.
The community took it as a rebuke. We drew in closer to eachother, and felt unwelcome everywhere we thought we had friends before.
And I had people later tell me “You know I support you, just… I didn’t want anyone to think I was.” First off, I DON’T know you support me. Not if you refuse to, for one day, change nothing about your life to show it. Second off… why is that such a terrifying thought to you?
I remember before rainbows were a “gay thing”. They were everywhere. Church walls next to arks. School walls next to sunshine faces. People have VOLUNTARILY abandoned every other use. I have HEARD PEOPLE SAY they just couldn’t use rainbows anymore because people would think of “gay stuff.”
So I know this is a joke, and a stolen one at that, but you’ve done this to yourselves. If someone is so terrified of being perceived as queer that they will INSTANTLY abandon something they like if it has queer germs on it now or something, then they don’t deserve refracted light.
Maybe help us change the world into a place where being mistaken for queer would be just a thing to chuckle about and you can have refracted light back.
The LGBTQ+ community didn’t steal the rainbow. The straights abandoned it.
Sort of like all the children queer people adopt.
