Jumbo, the Tufts mascot, was stuffed and preserved following his long career in the Barnum circus. He was donated to Tufts in 1889. However, his hide was destroyed in a fire in 1975. The bronze statue was unveiled in 2014 marking the 125th anniversary of the arrival of Jumbo on campus. #tufts #jumbo #mascot (at Tufts University)
