On both Supersonic videos cos the subject seems to be very controversial. And I think it's controversial in the fandom because we are not the target audience.
JO have a lot of sponsors involved in their Karneval event, it's a very large undertaking with a lot of work and money invested in it, and they have 10K more tickets to sell in the next few months which is not a very easy task. More than that, they have to sell it to the local Balkan audience - they have been aiming at it for a while now, abandoning their dreams of a wider European outreach: all their gigs are mostly concentrated in the neighborhood, their IG is predominantly in Slovenian rather than English these days, their Spar ads are directed at the local market etc.
And the thing is, we're all well aware what their image was before Esc and right after and how they were perceived locally: a bunch of fagg I mean, homosexuals with ambiguous self-presentation, be that hot line managers or dressing quite fruitily for Esc - they were a band for the girls and the gays and they were happily playing into it. Alas, something happened to them post-Esc, maybe burnout and being unsure where to head next, but their decisions lead to losing most of their fanbase which became very visible, no one can deny that. Which, with the Karneval looming over them, is a sad affair because they can sell only this many tickets to the remnants of the fanbase and the girls and the gays. But there is still a very large portion of the potential audience that they don't have in their pocket and it's called 'heterosexual males' who, in the Balkans, are also largely homophobic, let's be real.
So, to cast a net over that audience, they had to 'straighten up' and first try to appear as your regular, boring boy-band and when it didn't quite work, as 'macho men' - and for that a collab with a local famous rapper is very useful. What's also useful is an MV with girls, guns and sex - that will appeal to Devito's listeners and expose them to reformed 'macho men' Joker Out, and, perhaps, lure some of them to Karneval - at least to accompany their girlfriends without feeling like they're listening to some homos.
In other words, I think it's just business, nothing personal.
