As a native of Newton, MA I love hearing about your time growing up in Brookline and the Boston area on the Judge John Hodgman podcast. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for other Podcasts by comedians/people from the greater Boston area, or about Boston in general.
YES. As it happens, I have been deep-diving into TWO really fun and VERY New English podcasts these past few weeks.
One is THE DANA GOULD HOUR, hosted by the great comedian of Massachusetts and the world Mr. Dana Gould. This podcast comes out once a month and I am always waiting for it. As well, it regularly features a segment called POLITICAL TALK WITH TWO GUYS FROM BOSTON which is surprisingly not toxic and unapologetically racist, but in fact is REALLY FUNNY and also gets the accent so right I occasionally tear up.
The other is TV GUIDANCE COUNSELOR with Ken Reid. I met Ken backstage at the Wilbur last fall. I liked him then, and my opinion HAS NOT CHANGED. In fact, since discovering it via the DG Hour, I am tearing through his back collection of podcasts, in which he has a guest select an issue of his COMPLETE collection of TV Guides and they discuss what was on TV at the time and what it meant to them. And lots of other stuff. Ken lives and grew up in Boston, and every time he mentions WFNX or the Movie Loft I fall off the treadmill.
Here is a fun day: listen to Dana’s most recent podcast with Ken as a guest right HERE.
Then listen to Ken’s podcast when Dana was a guest HERE.
You will get so much Boston in you your ears will be bleeding chowder and spite.
That is all.
So glad to see the Honorable John Hodgman’s love for Ken Reid’s podcast.
