RILEYSTREET ART SUPPLY
by Ricky Watts
Born in San Francisco, Ricky Watts says his distinctive style was born out of his younger years painting graffiti across Northern California. Today Watts’s “abstract works of fluid shapes and psychedelic color patterns” are as likely to be found in galleries as on walls, with both found in all corners of the country. Watts is now based in Sebastapol, California, in the heart of Sonoma County, and in early 2018 he traveled just a few miles to paint @RileyStreetArtSupply on Maxwell Court in Santa Rosa—a Northern California art institution he says he’s been frequenting since he was a kid. @rickywatts/

Michael Carini | LEARN MORE
It was such an honor visiting the students of Loyola Marymount University yesterday and sharing my experience and my story in the hopes of helping to guide them on their own. I try to spend more time answering their questions and addressing the things they want to know about rather than focusing on my specific story or who I am, but I do inevitably end up diving into very personal pieces of myself such as this painting. “As The Caged Bird Sings” will always be one of my very favorites because of who and what it represents…Deanne Hastings, the woman I loved most in the world who disappeared on 11/3/15. In a strange twist of events, I received a very interesting message about Deanne as I showed up at LMU to speak. I’m following up on that today.
You can see the full story about this painting, including an animated version of it, at CariniArts.com where I also have the original and ready-to-hang canvases of it available.

Which is your favorite?
Within the past 6 months I started merging and puzzling together a new series by combining the painting with my #MostlyForHer poems in what has become a very enjoyable and well received collection of works. These pieces are still available and looking for a home. Message me. I’m also taking on commissions if there is a particular poem, size, or color scheme that you’re looking to add to your heart.
