"No I just- I dont know.."
"That's why I always forget."
"You could drown again, you know, and someone might not be there to bring you back."
"Same."
"My names Wendy, if you wanted to know. Or, you probably already know that and I’m making a fool out of myself.."
"Good to know that there's actually nothing to do and that I'm not just becoming a boring person."
"Hi, Wendy. 'm Jonah. Your name is familiar, but, no, I don't know you, and you're a face I would surely recognize."
"Jonah, I’m kidding. You should know me by now, I know you hate pity. I’d never pity you.”
"Uh- thought I’d give it a try?"
"Right. Yeah. Sometimes I forget we've been friends for three years."
"Are you trying to get yourself killed again?"
"Hey, whats up?"
"Oh, you know, absolutely nothing."
"People are so annoying, I’m so sorry.”
"Oh, I’ve been good I guess.. Joining the summer swim team..”
"Ugh, don't do that. Not you. I hate pity. That's why I never pull the cancer card."
"Dammit, Thomas, no."
"It’s a great option, or you could do nothing I guess..”
"But, Jonah!"
"It'd be easier to just ignore it. I don't feel like facing criminal charges over a petty annoyance. Just wish people would stop assuming that just because I had cancer that i'd get all hot and bothered over the topic being in pop culture. But, that's life."
"Hey, Tommy. How've you been?"
"Punch them in the face next time you hear anything about it."
"I'm not too sure about that."
"I wish people would stop asking me how I feel about The Fault in Our Stars."
JONAH CASWELL † 21 † HUMAN † NICHOLAS HOULT † TAKEN
“Counting down the days to go just ain’t living.”
Jonah had a perfect life for the first 18 years of it. He was the most popular boy at his high school, he was a star athlete, he was a complete womanizer, and everyone wanted to be him. His parents got along and he didn’t have any siblings to fight with. Their biggest concern was money; they had enough to get by, but that was it. He began babysitting and soon raised enough to buy his own car. Once he did, he lived his own life.
The bliss was cut short when he turned 19 and was diagnosed with Hodgekins Lymphoma. Cancer got in the way of all his plans; love, fame, immortality. He hated the illness, but he’d be damned if he let it ruin him. He fought and fought and after years, he survived. He didn’t want to get his hopes up too high, but he made it. He beat cancer; and had witchcraft to thank. He had been to many different doctors, but they were all too expensive. When he found ads for inexpensive treatment in Hillsboro, he instantly agreed, not knowing that he’d have to use magic to be healthy again. He still doesn’t believe, but he’ll never be able to thank the “witch” enough for giving him his life back.

After high school, Jonah didn’t keep in touch with all his old friends. His girlfriend left him when he got cancer, and after that, he feared getting attached. He still has Thomas Edwards as a close companion, though. They kept in touch after he’d stopped babysitting the boy.
