Today we’re thinking about expansions to the core Forest Dragon Farmer game. We know we want to do one that features travelling musicians, expanding on Clarinetto from the original The Forest Dragon game. We also know we want to do seasonal expansions, each with a different mechanic. Some collaborative, some “tile laying” mini games, some just fun activities to win points. Time to get to work! About The Forest Dragon When he was 7, Rory designed a card game in more or less one breath from the back of the car. We made it a reality, with some help from his brother Ben and his dad, industry veteran Jon Hodgson. It was successfully kickstarted, and is available online now and in selected game stores in the U.K. and US: http://www.drivethrucards.com/product/199689/The-Forest-Dragon-by-Rory-Card-Game?manufacturers_id=10726
Archive dive! Heading back in time to Dragon Magazine 352, when it was published by Paizo. This was my first job for the wonderful Sarah Robinson back in 2006, published in early 2007. Warforged Workshop, © 2007 Paizo Publishing
Archive dive! Elrond for Heroes of Middle-earth from Ares Games, painted over a (fantastic, daunting) sketch by John Howe. What a terrifying treat to work on! ©2018 Ares Games

Archive dive! “Sleeping Gods” for Dragon Warriors Roleplaying Game. I adored Dragon Warriors as a kid, so it was super cool to get to work on the rerelease. I believe it was this piece in particular that brought me to the attention of The One Ring designers. #rpg #osr
Here’s one from the more recent archives. This is the cover to The Eleven Lights for Glorantha, published by Chaosium. We changed it up a little to match the preceding book in the series, but I like the simplicity of this version too. © 2017 Chaosium #rpg #runequest #glorantha #art

A great evening’s playtest of The Forest Dragon Farmer! It’s really coming together and the final wrinkles are being ironed out! Check out the original Forest Dragon game here: http://www.drivethrucards.com/product/199689
I’ve been tracking the files in preparation for the launch of my new website, and yesterday I found this one from Age of Arthur, published by Warhammer Historical.

It’s not all Wizards of the Coast style supergiant clients here at Jonnerzley Hodgington Illuminatorisers. Here’s a lovely thing from the inimitable indie, Newt Newport’s D101 Games: MONKEY! For which I was honoured to provide the cover art. Looks great on the hardcover! Gotta love a good indie.
Oooh! Some marvellous contributor copies from Wizards of the Coast have arrived! It’s always a treat to work on D&D, and I’ll be sharing the work I made for this book soon!
Archive dive! Here’s one from Dragon Warriors: Friends or Foes, releases in 2010 by Magnum Opus Press.
The cover art to The Heart of the Wild for The One Ring Roleplaying Game. This one developed out of an idea I had for a Hobbit and a Dwarf confronting a “parliament” of spiders, arrayed around the edge of a clearing. It developed to fit the supplement, but that was the start of it. Radagast provides some celebrity appeal, and there’s a naughty ex-Hobbit lurking in the trees on the left. © 2016 Sophisticated Games and Cubicle 7 Entertainment Middle-earth, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and the characters, items, events and places therein are trademarks or registered trademarks of The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises and are used under license by Sophisticated Games Ltd and their respective licensees. #middleearth

Here’s a DSA cover from Ulisses Spiele way back when Patric Goetz was art director. This one was for a book about magical colleges if I remember rightly...
