@chrisandrade (aka Sonic) and me went and ran the Hardmoors 30 today. Chris got round in 5:03 the animal. I did about 5:35 which is 12 minutes faster than last year. Anyway, here are some things I learnt/remembered while on the run. 1) 30 miles is still a reasonable length, no matter how far you’ve run before, especially when you’ve been stressed out and not sleeping well. 2) Putting the steps at Boggle Hole in a race is definitely a breach of the Geneva Convention. 3) If you don’t apply blister protection in the right place when you’re prone to blisters there, you’ll get blisters. 4) Electrolyte drinks are recommended for a reason and the cramp in my leg won’t let me forget that soon. 5) If you injure your knee in a 100 mile race and someone tells you to do leg strengthening exercises to stop it happening again, do so. 6) Never believe a Hardmoors race will be the length it says it is.
