The bullhorn announcement didn’t convince him to come out. By the time @JoplinPD stormed in he was hiding in the attic! K-9 was poised to go in the attic space to retrieve him but he changed his mind. Now he’s in custody facing additional charges. - - -original§JPD§post- - - Incident Spotlight Yesterday at 5pm [Thursday] a JPD detective was looking for a wanted male near 20th and Bird. The male was wanted on two Felony Jasper County Warrants and a JPD warrant. The detective saw the male crossing the street and tried to contact him. Upon seeing the detective, the male ran into his residence and locked the door. The house was surrounded and the male refused to exit. Entry was forced and the male could be heard moving around in the attic, but still wouldn't surrender. FIRE ON 1ST FLOOR REQUIRES 2ND FLOOR RESCUE • Joplin News First was there & caught the ladder rescue LIVE! • In black smoke firemen locate adults & pets upstairs • Joplin Fire Marshall determines fire accidental (read on) (64801) — The Joplin Fire Department update us today with official information regarding the weekend fire in Murphysburg. #JoplinFire On Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at approximately 12:04 PM, Ladder 1B, Rescue 3B, Engine 3B, Engine 4B, Battalion 1B, & Ladder 5B on second alarm responded to a report of a structure fire at 302 S. Jackson. The first crew arrived at 12:07 PM and found a two-story wood frame multi-residential structure with fire and smoke coming from a first floor apartment. Crews made an interior attack and extinguished the fire. During the course of fire attack Rescue 3B personnel made entry to perform a search and located two residents in the upstairs apartment who could not exit due to heat and smoke. Crews placed a ladder to the exterior of the residence and brought the two residents and their pets to safety. There were no injuries to civilians and one firefighter suffered a minor injury, was treated and released. The Joplin Fire Marshal has determined the fire to be accidental due to unattended cooking. CRASH ON BRIDGE OVERNIGHT HALTS TRAFFIC FOR HOURS • SUV “was hanging off the bridge” • ACTUAL DISPATCH COMMUNICATION (64804) – About 3:45 am on the bridge over Shoal Creek at Zan's Campground, one of our Joplin News First tipsters came upon a two vehicle crash before help arrived. “The [vehicle] was hanging off the bridge, the front tires were holding the SUV up and keeping it from falling down to Riverside,” states our Joplin News First friend remaining unnamed, since still in shock. Redings Mill Fire Protection District responded and in about 30 minutes time safely extricated Tommy Harms, 32, of Joplin with the 'jaws of life'. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Harms 2007 Hyundai Tucson had crossed the center line crashing into Beau Hamlin, 27, of Galena. Hamlin's 2003 Toyota 4Runner is a total loss as well as Harms vehicle. Hamlin was treated for moderate injuries at an area hospital however Harms was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. In an update today from friends via family he is in critical but stable condition. MULTIPLE SHOTS FIRED TOWARD RESIDENCE IN NORTH HEIGHTS • JPD confirm it happened in the 400 block N Pearl - N of C & N Pearl • More than 5 shots, no exact number yet • No injuries reported but the bullets did enter structure(s) (64801) — Joplin Police Department confirm tonight that multiple shots were fired here toward a residence, just North of C Street & North Pearl. At this time the JPD feel the public is not in danger. They feel it was a targeted incident, towards a certain residence. They are still conducting interviews and collecting evidence. Neighbors who heard the shots told us it was less than 10 shots but more than 5. We asked JPD do they have a vehicle description? SUV COLLIDES WITH BACKHOE - ACTUAL DISPATCH COMMUNICATION -Shannon Becker with exclusive images & information overnight -Hear the actual dispatch communiation as Joplin Fire Department work to extricate a female from the vehicle (64804) — Approximately 12:15 am an SUV traveling westbound on East 32nd collided with the boom of a backhoe. Overnight construction along sidewalks and curbing has been going on for a few months along this section of road. Joplin News First confirms overnight with the Joplin Police Department, “A backhoe went through the [construction] cones and entered the roadway. And then a single motor vehicle ran into the backhoe.” The 'jaws of life' required about 10 minutes to extricate a a passenger from the SUV. “One female passenger was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening Injuries.” FROM WIKI: Vehicle extrication is the process of removing a vehicle from around a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident, when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable. On arrival crews found a residential structure with smoke coming from the roof. Crews made an interior attack and extinguished the fire above the ceiling. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire was ruled electrical in nature. JFD was assisted by Joplin Police Department,Metro Emergency Transport System, and the American Red Cross. ### - - - -UPDATE from the Joplin Fire Department - - - - (64801) -- In talking to friends and neighbors the person(s) living in this home are on a fixed income. The man will be facing a long list of charges including resisting arrest, fleeing police, property destruction, possible possesion of a stolen vehicle, it's going to be a long list. The pursuit initially started going East on 7th but winded back and forth eventually to 4th and Porter Ave heading South. “As the truck crossed 7th going south it struck the first vehicle, a [grey] pick up," Joplin Police Department tell Joplin News First exclusively overnight. "Then it went on to hit 3 other parked cars, so 5 vehicles tonight were involved." One family who lives southeast of 7th and South Porter had both of their vehicles destroyed in front of their home.
