ANDRES BONIFACIO: REVOLUTIONARY LEADER OF THE PHILLIPINES 🇵🇭
Andres Bonifacio was born on November 30, 1863, in Tondo, Manila and Bonifacio died on May 10, 1897. He came from a poor but hardworking family. When his parents died, he stopped studying to take care of his younger siblings. He worked as a messenger and a warehouse clerk. Even without a college degree, he taught himself by reading books about freedom and leadership.
Bonifacio believed that Filipinos deserved to be free from Spanish rule. Because of this, he founded the Katipunan, a secret group that aimed to fight for freedom. He used the code name “Maypagasa,” which means hope. This showed how much he believed in a better future for the Philippines.
We celebrate Andres Bonifacio Day every November 30, his birthday. It is a special day to honor his bravery, leadership, and love for the country his courage. A secret detail about Bonifacio is, he loved writing poems in Tagalog. He also helped design the Katipunan flag with the white letter “K” on a red background. This symbol became a sign of courage and revolution.
Today, Bonifacio’s story reminds us that we don’t need to be rich or powerful to make a change. His good intentions and love for the Philippines show us that even an ordinary person can become a hero. As long as we stand for what is right and care for our country, we can continue the fight he started — not with weapons, but with kindness, unity, and love for the nation. 🇵🇭
