June 13, 2013: The Boys perform at Sonar Festival in Barcelona, Spain. To promote their appearance, a local brewery produced "Pet Shop Boys" beer. My guess is that it tasted light, refreshing and exquisitely talented. Cheers!

“I smell youth. Vintage youth.”
Neil Tennant, on the occasion of his sixteenth birthday, July 10, 1970.
A Very Happy 70th Birthday to Mister Neil Francis Tennant.
May the coming year bring you as much joy as you have brought to us, Your Petheads, one and all.
❤️ WE LOVE YOU NEIL ❤️
Neil!!! Put some damn clothes on!!!
10 July, 1954.
A day that would alter the future of Pop Music, and as a result, the future of nearly every musical genre that was to evolve in the years to come. On this day in the town of North Shields, Northumberland, England, William and Sheila Tennant would welcome into the world the inimitable and eponymous Neil Francis Tennant, and we as Petheads could not be more grateful to them for the gift of immeasurable style and incomparable talent which they bestowed upon us all on that joyous summer day.
Now, 66 years later, I pause to reflect on the myriad ways in which his persona has affected my own passage through this strange and wondrous epoch of experience. At times, the elation has seemed more than my heart could bear, uplifted to a height of bliss and wonder, a joyousness seemingly greater than any human could possibly comprehend - delivered from the banal and tedious yoke of the mundane daily grind, unified with each individual among the throngs of revelers all around me. The ecstasy rising as the beat vibrated through us all, the lights, the music, our senses combining as we lost ourselves in the sheer bliss of it, and in unison became as one.
There’s also been anguish. Those times in which the soul screams into the void in vain desperation to any entity that may hear, crying out, pleading for an end to the suffering, for mercy, for sanity. ‘Fate Laughs,”Look what we’ve done to him!”’ In those moments, when all was darkness, and hope seemed a distant memory, I found the strength to go on, to wake and face another day. For as difficult as it was to know, and know so deeply, the truth that I was not alone in the vacuum of it created a strange sense of empathetic comfort. The awareness that it was known by another, and so eloquently and relatably expressed as to deliver me from my ego, to show the path to the light which led out from the depth of my despair.
Mister Tennant, you have over the past thirty five years of my life been my only constant. You’ve had such a profound impact on my experience, each and every day of those three and a half decades. With all sincerity, and with my deepest gratitude, I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you for all that your life’s work has given me. It is my great honour to wish you the happiest of birthdays, best wishes for the upcoming year, and my hopes that you be blessed with many many more to come.
On this day, July 10, 1954, an event occurred that would have a resounding effect on the future of music, culture, art, and fashion. On this day, Neil Francis Tennant was born in the town of North Shields, Northumberland, England to William and Sheila Tennant. A prodigy of inimitable character and unequaled talent, he grew up in the North England town of Newcastle where he studied guitar and cello, as well as being active in theatre. Flash forward to August 19, 1981 whereupon he met Chris Lowe at Kings Road Music Store in London, and the rest, as they say, is music history.
It is my absolute pleasure to wish this iconic presence a very happy birthday, the warmest of wishes, and my most humble and sincere gratitude for the contribution his influence has made not only to my life, but to the lives of so many others. May you have many, many more to come, and may the music play forever on and on and on and on.
Neil. Always with a head for business.
