Making a pointed look at the other, she could only hold that serious look for a moment before the corners of her nose wrinkled and she laughed, rolling her eyes sightly. It was very easy to be this, silly– playful, it was a vibe that Rosa enjoyed. She liked his mother, she reminded her much of her own, maybe that was why it was so easy to interact with her, she had that… mom pull on her, it was hard not to get along.

As others filled into the dining room, she took the moment to look at the blonde, a smile at her lips as she did so– he was so much… larger than her, it was easy to get lost in her own thoughts, she snapped herself out of them at the sound of his voice. “You saw me but a few days ago, but is it foolish of me to agree?”

Josh had to admit that he liked this, his family with the girl he could easily become smitten with if she allowed him. “I wouldn’t say foolish, not at all,” he replied with a simple shrug. He helped bring out the food with Rose as he could hear the boisterous laughter of his brothers. That could only mean one thing, they really did help themselves to some libations. He know he would probably be in for a long night of embarrassing stories being told to the girl he was still trying to impress.

It was the one stereotype that rang true, at least to her– she liked feeding those, she showed her love through food– and this was no different.Looking up as she placed the oven mitts to her counter, her nose wrinkled as she looked up– making a face at the older man. “Who says that those that joke go home with anything?” She mused, leaned against him for a moment before her attention was taken by the mans mother, her eyes soft as she took her hand in hers and thanked her or the sweet words.

“Everyone sit, sit– Josh can help me bring these out, and wine and liquor are at the bar, please, help yourself.” As soon as the large family hand their back turned, she took his larger hand in hers and pressed a kiss to knuckles, a smile at her lips. “Thank you for coming tonight.”

Josh looked at the girl he was so smitten for and laughed before putting his hands up in surrender. There was a certain dynamic they had between them. They joked and teased and it seamed to go well for the two. As he watched his mother and Rose interact, he had a feeling that he just couldn’t describe even if he wanted to. He was just glad the two got along well.

Josh was used to being voluntold to do this so when the Italian girl offered his services to help with the food he just moved towards her. He may not have expected the tender moment shared between the two but he cherished it. “Thank you for having us. It’s always great to see you.”

Her family knew of this, of course– who was she on the phone with the entire morning? Her mother and sisters of curse, her father she could hear claiming that he couldn’t send her anywhere, that he would make sure things went to plan,and she laughed– she was on the other side of the world, even with his connections there was no way to do as such. During the days, she found herself thinking o the other– blue eyes, blonde hair, the way his eyes wrinkled slightly as he laughed at something she’d say, she noticed he was near the front of her mind the closer the time came. With one last look in the oven, she had nails against the hardwood behind her, her fathers friends dog– a caramel color pit bull named Honey, trailing behind her. Opening the door, she couldn’t help the bashful smile that came to her face as she was given the hugs, the compliments, she ushered them inside before she had the time to really look at Josh. “Hello bello.” She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck- lips lingering against his cheek a few longer moments then how she greeted the rest of his family. “I like this color on you.” She whispered before pulling away and her fingers went to fix the collar of his shirt, her hand going to his chest for a moment before tapping lightly. “Come, let me show you all what I’ve prepared.”

Her hand, without thinking much, went to take his as she let the door close behind him, “First of, the true lady of the house– her name is Honey.” She smiled as she looked at the dog now on her back, looking around, letting Josh’s hand fall from her own, she carefully went to take out the four large pans of food warming in the oven, “First we have simple ziti bake, then angel hair pasta in a tomato gravy, rigatoni in a blush sauce, and for those that may prefer cheese centered dishes, shrimp alfredo.” Her hands quickly went to each dish before back to the oven to pull out two more pans, them both easily weighing at least 6 pounds, “And here, homemade meatballs, and chicken parmigiana.” Removing the oven mitts from her hands, she laughed softly, “And I have now realied that I may of made a bit too much.”

Josh watched as his family practically drooled over not only the sight and aroma of the food but also the amount. Rose had made enough for a small town to eat and possible still have left overs but then again he did remember how big of a family she came from. He made his way closer to her and laughed. :Maybe just a wee bit but look at it this way. Now no one has to cook for a few days,” he teased her. His mom shushed him before expressing her gratitude in being invited over and complimented the smell and presentation of everything. He could tell that his mother liked Rose possibly just as much as he did.

There was no easy way to say what she had been doing for the past 2 days, while yes– it was just 6 people, Rosanna was cooking for what seemed enough to feed at least 20 men; she simply couldn’t help herself, it was in her nature. One sterotype that rang true, she, her family, more so her mother- they loved to feed others, to show one you care, to make a good first impression, you cook. And while it wasn’t her first impression to the lot of them, she wanted to make it a pleasurable one.

So that’s how she found herself cooking for the past 2 days, which is a bit fast for her– normally it was set a week in preparation, but she pulled it out in 2 days; as she was setting the last of the prep, she just needed things to sit; absorb flavor and things of the sort. Running up to her room, she changed into a pair of skinny jeans and a dark yellow; almost darkened mustard colored, off the shoulder blouse– paired with nude heels since everyone in his family was so tall she wanted to put a few inches on herself. Opting for a bit of a natural face look, she only did her normal winged eyeliner and blush before curling her hair and pinning it to the side before she heard the doorbell ring.

Going down, she opened the door with a grin- full dimples on display.

“Thank you so much for coming tonight, please- come, come in!”

Ever since their date Joshua had been getting the constant question of when they would see Rose again. His brothers teased him and called him lover boy when he came over to his parents house the night after his date for their family dinner. During the family dinner he recanted their night and his mother immediately asked when he was going to bring her over. He had to admit he was glad everyone seemed to like the Italian girl since he was quite fond of her himself. After coming home from work he showered before putting on some black jeans and a powder blue button up and a pair of black oxfords. He wanted something comfortable but still look presentable. Originally he was going to pick up his parents but his oldest brother John took on that responsibility say it was to give him the possibility to stay one they were done with dinner and get some alone time with Rose. They did all meet up at the girl’s house roughly around the same time and was soon greeted by her adorable smile. Hanging back while his family hugged the girl and commented on the delicious aroma coming from the home, the cop took a moment to take her in. She was absolutely stunning. “Hey you, you look beautiful,” he told her as he hugged her and followed everyone in the home.

“Oh, I don’t think you are– you do not hold your breath, officer.” Rosanna teased, puffing out her chin in a very alpha like manner before she was sent laughing. The conversation was light, but interesting- she truly listened to everything coming from the blondes lips, wanting to know more. But as the lights turned a bit brighter and his words fell, she nodded- standing to her feet, “The people cannot have a sleepy officer, no they cannot.” She smiled, wiggling her fingers slightly before taking hold of his hand. She was busy admiring the stars, the night life- people walking rm bar to bar before she turned t him, a lazy smile casted her lips. “I did as well, you- you and your family should let me cook for you.” She said, a breath leaving. “And after perhaps we can watch one of those action movies you are that fond of, you can show me the best of the best.”

“Whatever you say nurse, whatever you say,” Josh responded with a small chuckle before shaking his head at her antics. The night the two had spent together had bar far been one of the best first dates he’s had, not to say he’s been on a lot. It was simple and Josh was a very simple man. “I am sure my family would love to experience real italian home cooking, though my mother will still try to help you so be prepared,” he warned her. ““Sounds like a date, I promise I won’t disappoint or at least I will try not to.”

“Don’t you be cheeky, I am not going to say.” She challenged, looking down at her food for a moment to hide her smile. It was so easy to just converse with this man, and while Rosanna has been told she’d talk to a tree if it just listened, with people– sometimes it was awkward, but this was comfort. At his words, she looked up and around- noticing they were one of the other patrons still seated “Well we can’t have a sleep deprived officer roaming the streets, now can we?”

“One of these days I’m going to get you to say it again, just mark my words,” he boasted with a slight smirk. He never thought he could just enjoy someone’s presence and conversation as much as he did in this moment. They weren’t talking about much, still getting to know each other, but that was enough for him. “No I don’t think it would be wise. I’m supposed to be keep people from doing reckless things, not doing them myself.” Josh got out his wallet and put enough down for the bill as well as a tip and proceeded to make their way to his car. “We should really do this again sometimes, I had a lot of fun,” he told her as they pulled up to her home.

“Shall I look for another deviously handsome man with blonde hair, blue eyes?” Was she flirting? Or was that just her personalty? Or, for a third a mixture of the two? She wasn’t sure, but she as enjoying it- how her cheeks were warmed, the fluttering in her stomach, it was… different. At his words, her hands went to her face- covering it for a moment even if she was grinning behind said hands. After a moment or two she did let them fall and she was left looking back at him, a grin at her face- dimples peeking out. “I’ve heard that a time or two, and could say the same about you.”

“So I am deviously handsome huh?” he teased her a bit. He hadn’t even noticed while they talked and ate how late it was getting. They we in their own little world for so long, it was until in that moment when he noticed the time. This was a place he frequented often and knew when it closed, with was soon. “As much as I don’t want this night to end, I should probably be getting you home soon. It’s getting pretty late and I have to work tomorrow.”

“So you brothers are the ones I will see in the ER late nights, highly intoxicated after an adventure? People like them.” She teased back, his words sending her to bring a hand to cover her mouth, eyes wrinkling as she laughed– shaking her head. “No, I don’t think that at all, nope. Not it is at all.” Rosanna fell slightly over her words, the blush creeping to the back “You just want to make me blush, you stop that– I will be as red as a tomato if you keep this up, and I do not think that is a good look for me. “Well, I respect you very much for your cop, let that be known.” Her smiled turned all the more gentle as she took his much larger hand off the table and even went as to press a kiss to his knuckles before letting go.

People like my brothers are exact the type of people you will see in the ER. My oldest brother is actually stationed in Naples so there is honestly a possibility you just might see him in your ER.” Josh remembered his oldest brother talking to him about his trips to Rome from time to time and thought it would be very funny if he managed to run into Rose after a long and stupid night of drinking with his fellow sailors. As she began to blush he found himself staring at her, when he realized it he shook his head. “I’m sorry you’re just really beautiful, especially when you blush. I guess I couldn’t help myself. I guess you could say red is your color,” he said, teasing her a bit at the end. Josh sat there and watched her, a smile etched onto his face. “You are something else, you know that?”

“Sledding off buildings? Please don’t tell me they’ve done that, that sounds very dangerous.” Rosanna laughed, covering her mouth as she did so, “See, now that is rather cute, not the pissing your pants of course but the laughing. I don’t think you want to see it, it’s an easy outlet to make fun of me. At least that’s what my brothers do.” Seeing his smirk sent a small blush to dust her cheeks, pressing her lips together for a moment. I haven’t heard it, so it is very sweet of you to say. People either think very highly or very lowly of my profession. Not that it matters to us, but your words mean very much.”

“Well all I will say is that my brothers tend to have a very dangerous sense of humor when they are highly intoxicated,” Josh said and laughed at the memories he had of his brothers. “Oh so your think I’m cute huh?” he teased her with a smile. “I think I do want to see it actually. Think of it this way if I tease you at least you have a lot off embarrassing ammo to tease me with as well.” He wanted to make it a personal mission to make her blush more throughout the night. He felt as though when she blushed or smiled she was even more gorgeous then she already was. “I understand that, I do. Being a cop, people either love you or hate you there is very rarely an in between. Still I have to do the job I was sworn to do just like you’ll do the job you swore to do.”

“Are the type who gets a bit sloppy when drunk hm? My brothers are the ones that get into fights, I just– get very happy, so I’m just a bit more elevated than I am on a regular basis.” She admitted, a slight blush dusting her tanned cheeks- her full attention on Josh as he spoke, nodding her head along to what he was saying. “That’s good, to find something you’re passionate about- makes the career so much better in the long run. I could never do what you or your brothers do, it’s admirable really; but I’m sure you hear that all the time”

“No I’m not a sloppy drunk. My oldest brother is the sloppy drunk, while the other two idiots are adventurous sleds off buildings type of drunk,” he said shaking his head at the memory. “I’m the thinks everything is hilarious and will possibly piss his own pants type of drunk. But now I’m very curious to see a elevated you now,” he said with a smirk. “I do hear it often but I’m sure you will to when you get back and begin your journey. I know I wouldn’t be cut out for a job in a hospital, it take a lot out of a person. You’re job isn’t as glamorous as a doctors but its equally as important.”

Rosanna listened to the other, trying her best not to laugh but a small giggle fell from her lips- her hand going o cover her mouth to cover any sound she could. “You poor thing, sometimes the words of the mind don’t quite follow through with your lips– happens to us all.” Taking a long sip from her glass of water, she let it rest against the wood after- nodding her head. “I feel the same about nursing, although now my family brags that they now have a 24 hour nurse on their hands. See, I’d think when you’d get to eat was the highlight of your day.”

Josh couldn’t even blame Rose for laughing at him. Even he had to laugh at himself when he told that story. “Oh trust me I know, that wasn’t the first or last time it happened to me. It tends to happen a lot when I am drunk or tired,” he admitted with a chuckle thinking of the times he’s made a fool of himself when it came to his words. “Eating is every college student’s highlight of the day so that goes without saying. But other then that my criminology classes tended to be the high light of my days because I actually loved the subject matter and wanted to learn more and more.”

“Oh lord, it will be something, for sure.” Beth laughed, covering her mouth with her hands to muffle the noise- a slight roll of her eyes following. “Once during a class, I had gotten the word organism and orgasm mixed, I hadn’t slept very well the nights before, but you can say my classmates never let me live it down, but thank you– I think to think I am rather intelligent.” Resting her hand on her chin, she listened with a risen brow, nodding her head before a smile came to her lips once more, it seemed to be a reoccurring matter with this man. “Now is there a part of criminal justice you like the most? And of course, everyone was rather good at that class.”

“Honestly that sounds like something I would do. Like I use to have a really hard time trying to figure out the words I wanted to use so I was talking about losing my appetite but I couldn’t remember how to say it so I stuttered the first syllable then decided that the word wasn’t going to come to me so I just said I wasn’t hungry anymore,” he explained. He thought about what in particular he likes about his major then simply shrugged. “I just liked it all as a whole, those classes were always the high light of my day.”

“I’m sure that when my family visits here, they’ll have many stories to ruin whatever reputation I am building here.” Rosanna knew she could come off very confidant, comfortable– but when she became more knowing with another, she could get very silly, she was a bit of a nerd in a way she watched crime shows, cooking, when she’d cook she was known to dance and sing around. “To be perfectly honest, I’m surprised I can pronounce half the words in my textbooks.” She admired, a laugh falling from her lips. “Latin hm? What was your best subject then?

“Than I shall very patiently wait for them to visit here so I can find out all the embarrassing and reputation ruining stories about you.” Josh teased. He found it odd yet satisfying to be so comfortable around someone he barely knew for 24 hours if it had even been that long. “I’m not you seem highly intelligent and those words are made for highly intelligent people.” He said with a shrug. “Best subject in college was criminal justice. My best subject in high school though would have been lunch. Oh yeah I was amazing during that class period.”

“There is never enough sir, never enough.” Rosanna grinned, looking up at him, the corners of her eyes wrinkling as she smiled. To be honest, she couldn’t remember the last time she had been taken out on a date, when you’re in nursing school it’s hard to manage anything but that, it wasn’t that people were not interested, she just wasn’t– as cruel as that sounded. She rose a brow at the feeling of his hand in her own, but she welcomed it- smoothing her thumb over his knuckles. As she took her seat, she placed her elbow on the table, placing her chin in her hand as she laughed, nodding her head. “I’m not sure if there is a professional name of the sort, but I will be working in an emergency room.”

“Well I guess that means I am in for a very long night then huh?” He laughed not really minding the thought of his coworkers sharing stories about him to Rose. He was wiling to endure all the embarrassment the night held for him as long as it made her smile. “That’s fine knowing me I’d end up just butchering the professional name and end up sticking to ER nurse anyways. But in my defense more of those words derive from Latin and I took a Latin class one and that was the only class I have ever failed and I am perfectly okay with that. I can only pronounce cardiologist right if I say it slowly.”

Rosanna knew how funny it must of looked to ongoers, a tiny woman dragging a man that was at least 3 times the size of her with a grin– but she couldn’t bring herself to care. Looking over at him from the passenger side of the car, she smirked slightly– tapping her fingers against her thigh to the beat of the music from the radio. Shrugging off her jacket as she got out of the car, she left it on her seat before untucking the side of her t-shirt before a laugh fell from her lips. “A cop spot hm? Lets see if I can get any embarrassing stories about you tonight.”

“Oh god no. I’ve kinda already mad a fool of myself on multiple occasions. I figured that would be enough for you.” Josh groaned and joked at the thought of the many embarrassing stories his co-workers over the years could tell her. He was hoping none of his older co-workers was around knowing they had the most dirt on him. Nevertheless he took Rosanna hand in his and led her inside quickly sitting at a table. “So before you find someone to spill all of my embarrassing stories. I have a question. I know you said you just finished school to become a nurse but I don’t believe you ever said what kind.”

All Rosanna could do was smile, keeping the bit of laughter in– it was quite obvious he was trying just a bit too hard, trying to impress her, but she found it rather endearing. As they sat and she heard his words, she rose a brow, a sudden grin coming to her face. “With me being honest as well, it’s not mine either.” She laughed, grabbing her wallet to gather a few bills to place under her plate before she was raising to her feet, without a word to him she grabbed his hand and laced their fingers together. “C’mon.” She urged, it being a bit funny as she trying to tug him out but once he did, she quickly with a pep in her step got them back outside, looking back at him with the same grin. “Take two?”

Josh was going to protest her paying for their drinks but was cut off by the small woman pulling him out of the restaurant. When she asked for his plan B he smiled and made a mental note to tell his brother that his original plan for his date beat his over the top restaurant. “Take two definitely. This time I’m going with my original plan.” The older man led Rosanna to his car and began to make their way to the bar and grill new his job. Before getting out he took his tie and blazer off and left them in the car. “This is a cop spot so you’ll probably meet some of my co-workers. They usually have live music at night and the food is great.”

“You did not disappoint.” Rosanna teased, a smirk tugging at her lips as she peeked at him from over the flowers– in fact it was the simple act that he got her flowers that made her smile, it was such a small gesture, but it was endearing. Taking his arm, she went with him to his car– talking the simple small talk that ones did in the car, it wasn’t awkward though- like most of the time it would be, it was just easy. Looking out her window as the car came to a stop, she couldn’t help the chuckle that left her lips– once back out, she took his arm once more. “Taking an Italian to an Italian place, that is very ballsy my handsome friend.”

As he stepped out of the car and rushed over to open her door he was feeling pretty sure of himself. He was glad his confidence had risen by this time and he was no longer being awkward and nervous. He smirked and shrugged at her comment. “Go big or go home right? Well that’s not really true because if this place ends up being a bust I have a back up plan. It’s not as nice as this place but the food is great and the entertainment is even better.” He assured her as they walked in. They were soon seated and had their drink orders taken. “To be honest with you my brother referred this place to me. No the SEAL but the doctor. This isn’t really my kind of scene.”
