Citanul “ Coiffecuses de chat “ in size M Diamond Honey “Cherries and crosses” in size M
I want this message to be spread through this giveaway: consumerism is a big part of lolita fashion community and a really big problem as well. We all are in love with pretty things - clothes, stationery, fancy tea-sets, ruffled parasols etc. We try to fill the void created by misunderstanding people around us with more blouses and OPs, we admire huge collections, we find it hard to let go that first brand dress, even when our style is different just because it’s “so pretty”, we sacrifice our precious hours of sleep to get new releases, that start to look more and more like previous ones. And the list goes on. I would like to remind you, and that may sound cliche, most important things are not things at all. Your value is not estimated by your wardrobe. Do what enjoy most, wear what you like and stay true to yourself.
Some of you may think: she could have sold these dresses and earn some money! And my reaction would be: sharing these things and reading your posts will bring me much more meaning to my life, than money. And those dresses gave me maximum joy, now it’s time they bring joy to someone else. To enter the giveaway you have to follow some rules:
- use your personal tumblr account; - reblog this post (don’t change the description), one reblog per person; - write which dress you would like to get and give an answer to this question: How can a lolita fashion lover fight against consumerism? English language only! - you don’t have to follow my tumblr; - free shipping; - two winners will be chosen based off their answers on January 25, so that JSKs can get to them around Valentines day (post delays may occur, unfortunately). - this giveaway is tumblr only and run by chlora-virgo! If you see any frauds, please report to me asap.
Feel free to ask any questions about the giveaway. Let’s begin!
I would love the left dress from Citanul!
Now to the important part, how can a lolita fight consumerism?
For me, it has multiple layers. In a fashion style that is so based on appearances and trends, it is hard to be happy with what you already have. But it is so important to be happy with what you have!💜 Opening a package containing a dreamdress is a feeling you should hold onto and not focus on the next thing on your list. Enjoy the here and now!
To get the most out of your pieces and not needing new things (and thus fight consumerism), be creative and stay in a color scheme that works for you 💜 If you have a cohesive collection with essential pieces, you do not need new pieces with every main piece you get, it works seamlessly into your collection. Stay true to yourself and strive for cohesive collection and wardrobe.
And last, very important, do support local brands and thrift clothes to do less damage to the world and fight poor work conditions and environmental damage. The fashion industry is the most polluting of all because of mass consumerism so buy clothes from ethical sources or second hand to not be part of that 💕 Be critical and ethical!
Together we can do better in fashion💜
