Then I feel my pulse quickening
But regrets can’t change anything
Yeah I feel my pulse quickening

The performance on the stage was confusing to Phoenix. From the outfit the musician had chosen to their song to the way they were playing it. Was this some kind of modern art piece he wasn’t intelligent enough to understand? Always a possibility.
As Joe approached, Phoenix quirked an eyebrow. “Creepy photography? I feel like I should have expected this out of you and yet I wasn’t.” He looked at the photo and began to laugh. His eyes were narrowed and his mouth contorted oddly. “I’d say that sums this act up fairly well.”
“I don’t actually care whether you allow me to keep this picture or not, I will keep it and include it in every birthday or christmas card from now. Maybe I’ll get a guy to put it on your next birthday cake,” Joe grinned. “And just so you know it is not creepy photography when I’ve been asked by the people throwing this party to take pictures. There’s a difference,” he added.

“I get that. It seems like a good technique,” he answered with a nod and smiled a little. “I never really liked taking pictures of myself. Other people, sure. The camera just makes me a little shy, I guess. My mom would always have a terrible time getting me to take any photos. Still does.” Caleb shook his head. “I live in Sunnymead, but that doesn’t surprise me. I’m always indoors. Been pretty busy since moving to town. I work down at the hardware store, but maybe you haven’t needed anything from there as of lately. I’m Caleb,” he said, offering his hand out for a shake. “Yeah, sure. I might need a picture of my guitar and me someday, you never know.”
“Well, I’ll make sure to take some more of you for your mum througout the night then,” Joe chuckled before frowning, “That sounded a little creepy didn’t it?”
“Ah, yeah I’m usually getting friends to do anything related to that for me, these arms were not made for building,” he let out another chuckle looking down at his thin form. “Either way it’s nice to meet you Caleb. I’m Joe,” he took the other’s hand. “Are you playing something too tonight?”

She hadn’t realized she was being photographed, but if there was one thing about Ella-Mae, it was that she was photogenic in almost any situation. She stopped dancing to the song currently playing as the man showed her the picture he took, looking pretty impressed with his work. “Oh, that’s real nice! Can you make a copy for me so I can send it home to my parents? I haven’t sent them a picture in a long time and they’d love this. I’ll pay, of course!”
“Of course, and don’t. I’m here on a favor, no need to pay for a copy,” Joe shook his head with a smile.
“I’m glad you like it. But hey I think i’ve seen you before somewhere, I just can’t tell where?” he asked curiously. “I’m Joseph, and that must have sounded like the worst pick-up line.”

this, right here, is the definition of stupid. look up the word in the english dictionary, right under would be these idiots names plus the scandalous activity they verge on. tip toeing on the edge of impropriety, there was no stopping them once the decision was mutual. “i can definitely see to that.” gravitating with his pull, suddenly any conscious awareness of their location, and the particular person perhaps ten or so metres away behind the unknowing crowd, had faded. lingering fingers find said wounded area, pull joseph just that little closer by the hem of his shirt. a breathy voice, leaning in to whisper between curls, into the privacy of his ear. “i suggest we retreat so somewhere appropriate to… conduct the examination.”
Even if there would have been any doubts on his mind, not that there were any in the first place, they would have been drowned out the moment Nele whispered into his ear, a hot feeling of need forming in his belly. “God, I love when you talk medical to me, Nele,” he murmed, only loud enough for her before he let go of her pants to instead take her hand, and lead them away from the prying eyes around them to the restrooms.

Before he could even think of trying out a pose, Caleb heard the shutter of the camera, looking back at the lens a little surprised. “Did you just take a picture of me?” was his first response. Then, when he saw the photo that was taken of him, he wasn’t going to complain about it. Somewhere out there, there were probably worse pictures of himself. “Hey, well at least you got me on my good side. Not bad.”
“Sorry about not giving you a warning, I just think pictures where the person doesn’t know they’re being photographed always turn out better than posed ones,” Joe apologised quickly, glad though when the other said he liked the picture. “I don’t think I’ve actually seen you around town yet though? Are you only here for the party?” he asked curiously. “Oh and if you want the picture I can give you my number and you can just give me a ring whenever you want.”

Mathias had just come off the high of entertaining the crowd of the diner. The glinting of the camera lens caught his blue hues, knowing automatically who the camera belonged to before seeing the mess of curly brown hair. His favourite neighbour, the flirtatious eccentric that the man could never get enough of. Quite a great friend to himself as well as his whole family. Remembering when Bodhi and Phoenix didn’t get along a short stint. Phoenix went to Will and Bodhi went to Josi’s place for cool down time. Very kind and welcoming neighbour and person in general.
The buzzed tattooed man came to meet Josi halfway, glancing over his shoulder without straining to see the photo. Such a talented man with a keen eye, quick finger to get the action shots. “Should I worry about you knowing my good side better then I know it myself?” He asked, the tiniest smile wrinkles creasing near his blue eyes all until he noticed Joseph’s hand bandaged.
Concern darken his big blues as he cocks a brow up at him. “The hell happened to your hand Josi?” He queried, an unsettled twitch of his lips tugging them into a frown.
Joe found himself whoo-ing quite a lot during Mat’s performance, the man proofing once again that unless someone actually did something to his family, he wouldn’t be able to hurt a fly. His drunk performance was something else entirely, and Joe enjoyed every minute of it. His peformance alone making the whole event a success. Of course he snapped several pictures of the other throughout it.
When he was done and had made his way over to him, Joe shook his head at Mat’s word, waving him off. “That’s what happens after years and years of you being my muse. It would be embrassing if I wouldn’t know your good side by now” he winked with a grin.
Noticing the mans eyes landing on his hand, concern obvious on his face and his words, Joe waved him off again, “I happened. Or the dishes did. No need to release the protective Dad, babe. One of the glasses exploded in the sink and well,” he held up his bandaged hand with a shrug. “It was quite impressive actually. “

it’s those inhibited moments where we make stupid decisions, and nele had a track record of plenty. it plays like routine, the alcohol hits hard, and of course, joseph has to be in her fucking proximity. does he not know what he weakness he is? “luckily there’s a doctor in the house.” she begins, groggily leaning forward from her position against the wall to stand straight, “where did the mean woman hurt you?”
“Lucky me,” Joe tilted his head, smirking, his eyes locked with hers. They got awfully close to something again, all the warning signs there, and yet he couldn’t seem to stop himself and move away from the situation like he should have.
“Oh where do I start?” he asked instead, “It started around here,” he motioned around his chest, “but it seems to move around. ‘though, I’ve recently heard about a great method to care for that pain,” Joe continued, reaching out and hooking his good hand on the hem of Nele’s jeans, pulling her closer to him.
darcypalmer:
She might have not been looking at Josi as he spoke, but she was paying attention to what he was telling her while she was making the drink for him, nodding along the way to let him know that she was listening. “Jesus, who would have thought washing dishes can be this dangerous? How long does it have to be all wrapped up and bandaged up?”
Darcy smiled at him as she finished the drink and placed it in front of him on the counter, “Here you go, enjoy. And yeah, I’d love to get a sneak peek.” Her back stiffened when she heard him talk about a picture about her. She’s never liked anyone trying to take photos of her while she’s been in Sunnymead, but ever since she found out what happened with Benji, she felt increasingly more paranoid. “Can you delete that picture, please? The one where I am on it too. And– you know, not take more of me. Please.”
“Not sure, couple of weeks, depedning on how well it heals I think?” Joe frowned with another shrug, the frown quickly turning into a smile again at the sigh of the finished drink. “Ah this is beautiful, thank you Darc’.”
“Got ya,” he nodded. Taking a sip from the drink a happy moan escaped his lips at the taste, and he took another sip before picking up the camera and turning it so Darcy could have a look through the pictures while he clicked through them. “What is it with this towns’ non-existent self-confidence?” he questioned at her request, although he nodded a moment after. “Of course I can delete it, all up to you. But I’ll have you know it’s a real shame because you look amazing in it! All cool and professional and happy working this bar! Wait... Ah there it is. Look at you!” he turned the camera towards her again, showing the picture of a couple laughing and Darcy in the background.
aushclten:
“you finally noticed.” nele holds eye contact with joseph for a moment, briefly woozy at the strong hit of alcohol within the cocktail she’d been sipping since walking in the door. what was in this thing? josephs reaction leaves a coy simper upon the brunette’s lips, “i’d say more boarish.”
“Ouch, I’m wounded,” he held up one hand to his chest, closing his eyes for a moment as if fainting. “9-1-1, I think I just witnessed my own murder!” he called out waving around him for help.
ivyhanlon:
Ivy had seen Josi all around the event, but hadn’t wanted to bother him in his creative process, besides he was being all too sneaky ( probably to try to get the perfect event pictures – which she appreciated ). While Ivy could imagine it being a bit of a precarious thing, him being at an event that his ex was also invited to, she hoped that he’d be okay enough to at least take pictures – but she didn’t want to think about that now. She didn’t want to think about what it meant, what kind of friend she was, to invite both of them to such an event, she didn’t want to think about how talking to Nele made her excited in ways she hadn’t felt in a while –ESPECIALLY when he was one of her best friends exes. Her oldest friend, who she survived so much more than just school and life with. Jumping out from behind him, she yelled, “boo”, a large smile on her face, pushing away any thoughts of anything besides going to check on how the pictures were doing.
“How’s it goin’, Josi boo? How’s your hand? Can I get you a drink?”
Letting the other go back to their friends, Joe focused back on his camera, taking a quick look through the pictures. He didn’t even notice the girl approaching him, which probably was the point when she yelled ‘’boo’’ into his face, jumping up from behind him.
“Ivy!” he yelped out, jumping back, his heart doing the same, a smile forming on his lips at the sight of her however. “That part of the event? Scarring people to death?” he raised one eyebrow at her, his smile only growing at her nickname for him.
“I’m good, hand’s good too, promise,” he replied, pulling her into a quick hug and kissing her on the cheek. “I’ve already got one from Darcy waiting for me, thanks. But let’s talk about this!” Joe changed the subject, motioning for the bar. “This is amazing, I’m so proud of you!”
aushclten:
she wants to reach to him, do something consoling for his affliction. yet nele stays rigid in her seat. however, allows her shoes to lower and meet the floors linoleum, hands remaining entwined upon her lap where they couldn’t cause any havoc. lord knew nele had close to no control when it came to joseph. and as his gaze lingers, one might say almost in a kind of sad affection, it was even more important to fight it.
“absolutely not, jo.” the protest comes out quicker than nele has the opportunity to filter her words, “you just had surgery.” it’s not as if the hospital was going to discharge him to take a bus home, however nele knows better than to believe he’d accept that. “i… —” her next choicest sentence comes out even quicker, “i’ll discharge and take you home.”
“What?” he furrows his brows in confusion before he can stop him, shaking his head, “No, it’s fine. I can take the bus. Thank you, but...” he starts. But what? But whenever we’re in the same room for longer than half an hour either we almost kill eachother or end up in bed together? The latter being super helpful in the whole getting over eachother deal- not.
On the other hand he kind of doubted they would even let him go if he’d say he was taking the bus and had no one to accompany him. One look at Nele and that thought was confirmed as well. And he really had no other options, everyone else was busy and it’d take a while for them to get him. And Nele was right there, ready to go. “Okay, thank you. I’ll give you back the money for gas,” he agreed with a sigh.
