When my husband and I were first married, we moved to California, where we lived for a year. It was quite the experience. We didnât move to LA where we could potentially hobnob with the stars. Oh, no, we moved to a small city in San Bernardino County called Twentynine Palms.
Although Twentynine Palms is considered a city, coming from NYC, it seemed a bit small. One might argue that itâs the complete opposite if New York. Not bad, just different. At the time, Twentynine Palms was known as the City of Mural. It is  located in the Mojave Desert, has a large Marine Corps base in it, and sits on the boarder of Joshua Tree National Park.
If youâre ever in Southern California, do yourself a favor and make time to visit Joshua Tree. Itâs worth it.  Joshua Tree is where the Mojave and the Colorado meet.
Before Joshua Tree, I thought a desert was full of sand with a few cacti. Joshua Tree immediately dispelled that notion. The park contains a variety of plants and animals that inspired my husband and me to take regular trips out to the park (I do not camp, but if I did, this would be a place Iâd happily set up camp).
 This is a Joshua Tree, for which the park is named. The tree is native to the southwestern United States, specifically California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada.
