okay so think abt this, you grow up playing hockey in a VERY serious grind mindset family, you’re practically a robot, you don’t connect w the kids on your teams, no one picks you even tho any coach would,

you make it to the nhl, 1st overall like you were told, like you KNEW you would. You play on the same team as a kid from your rival college but the rivalry wasn’t huge cuz hockey is hockey,

you befriend him, IMMEDIATELY clicking, you are now together all the time, you tell all the interviewers abt how amazing he is, some people think you’re too close but that’s not true, this is how friends are and this time around you don’t love hockey as a machine, you love it as a person, you are in love with it. You do jersey trades and sleepovers and matching costumes that you missed out on as a kid because you only breathed hockey and none of ur teammates liked you very much

and when the man who helped you get there gets hit and injured, you are infuriated because that hit was not needed, how could they hurt him? He walks off to the dressing room and you get caught in a scrum, you beat the crap out of the dude and then next shift have 3 SOG and your team wins,
