please bare with me i am not familiar with writing angst so this might not be that good but ahem
roommate schlatt acting as though having you as his roommate is the worst thing ever. he says he wishes he had someone else as his roommate, making it seem like he hates you.
he frequently brings girls over from his parties with friends, not caring if you're around, sometimes even having the nerve to smirk at you the next morning when he sees you're more tired than usual
you think he hates you. the way he treats you, the way he barely uses your name, the way you've heard him talk shit about you to those girls he brings over to fuck. you've grown used to it, just waiting for the time you can finally move out so he wouldn't have to deal with you anymore.
but he doesn't hate you at all. god, he'd rather die than ever verbally say he hates you.
he's so fucking in love with you it hurts him.
the idea of being so in love with someone scares him shitless, so what does he do? he acts like a fucking dick, and god, he wishes he could start over when he first met you, but now he's stuck playing this role of the asshole roommate.
he's losing the person he was when he found you and he so desperately wants to show you how he really is.
at first, he did it to get a reaction out of you, thinking it was adorable how you'd get angry and tell him to be nicer.
but now, you've mellowed out, barely reacting to him other than a little frown or a pinch of your eyebrows when something he says particularly stings or a small request for him to keep it down next time.
when he's alone in the apartment, he's unable to look at anyone without thinking of you. the times he does have girls over and you arent home? he's thinking things to himself as he guides them to his bedroom.
"they would never use this much perfume." "this outfit is horrible...they have so much better taste." "they'd look pretty in this jewelry." "i wonder if they're this soft." "god, i wonder what they sound like, what they taste like." "would they want to hold hands during...?"
sometimes, he wonders if he's acting different when he's not around you and if others can pick up on his true feelings.
but god, what hurts him the most and tells him how badly he fucked up is when he comes home early and can hear you sobbing in your room on the phone with someone, asking them what you did wrong and why schlatt hates you so much.
it hurts him so fucking bad he can't help but curse himself out, turning and leaving the apartment. he knows he has no right to feel hurt because he did this to himself, but hearing you cry? and knowing he was the reason behind it? it made his heart ache.
going to the club he frequents, he just sits at the bar drinking his sorrows away as he waits for one of his friends to meet him there so he has someone to talk to.
once ted arrives, he's patting schlatt on the back, encouraging him to spill his feelings out, knowing the alcohol would help schlatt be more open. but ted doesn't expect everything that comes out of his mouth.
"i'm goin' on dates and hangin my head because no matter what it's not them, man, but i know it's my fault. i did this shit to myself and i fucking despise myself for it."
"i fucked up so badly, ted. i heard them cry today. asking what they did to make me hate them. and i felt my heart break because they were crying because of me. and what's worse? what if that wasn't the first time they cried because of me."
"the idea of them leaving? it fucking hurts. i wanna share an apartment, a room, and a bed with them, ted. not separate rooms, i don't want to be their fucking roommate anymore, i want to be theirs so bad."
schlatt downs another shot, unaware of the frustrated tears streaming down his face. ted, not used to seeing his friend like this, is wide-eyed, shocked, but also concerned. he didn't realize schlatt was this infatuated with you...and he didn't know what to do to help.
"i wanna tell them 'i love you,' but i can't...not after everything I've done. fuck. fuck."
