Blog Post #9
I typically write because I am told to do so. The most common time to find me writing is the day before I have a paper due. I usually do not enjoy writing so unless I am told too I often avoid it. I do not enjoy writing because I am not very good at it, numbers have always made more sense than letters so I try to stick to math as much as possible. I do occasionally write things out to help memorize definitions or equations that I need to remember. I also write down all of the sales I make in the business I run (buying and selling clothes). Writing everything down helps me organize my profits for each item and helps me make future decisions when buying clothes. Even though I do not write often I see how people could make it a very useful tool for memorization and organization. I am more of a private writer. I tend to write things that pertain to me directly and often voice my views on the topic because the paper asks not because I want to. I also do not like social media which I believes proves the fact that I am a private writer because I do not like posting things (letting others read my opinions). I believe when Orwell says this he means everyone who writes writes for their own reason not for anyone else. Even if it seems like the author is writing for someone else deep down they have a selfish reason for producing that piece whether it be because they want good attention or they were assigned to. Everyone’s motive to write is different so you can never truly know why an author is creating a certain piece.
