“Rise” #SOLD - An artist knows all too well the ebbs & flows of a creative. They know how to celebrate successes while being fully aware of the dip that could be on the horizon. Sales, commissions, magazines reaching out for interviews, curators inquiring about exhibits, more sales, followed by crickets. Nothing. I think the crickets are the universes way of telling you to get back to the lab because what you are doing isn’t working. Testing how hungry you are. Showing you there is no other path than the one you are on. One of my favorites from last year. Truth is I barely created any artwork in 2017, but the pieces I did produce carried with it enough substance & creativity to hold its own for this past trip around the sun while I dedicated my focus to being a father. I didn’t want to half ass parenthood, so I stopped going to the lab. Exhibits & commissions allowed for the exposure and opportunity to continue, but I had to dim the flame a little. I don’t regret it one bit. Watching Colliape grow and being there for her has been such an amazing gift. A gift I look forward to receiving more as we continue our journey as a family. @jenniyoga & I set some intentions this year that involved more balance in our creative & personal lives. Excited for the two of us to begin working on a new groove that allows for us to do what we love while raising the little human we love. • • Getting back into the lab starting with a photo shoot at the end of February. This is going to be a continuation of the “Face Value” series, but also the beginning of an entirely different body of work. Just because I wasn’t creating doesn’t mean I wasn’t creating.
