untitled god game, a video game where you play as a mischievous minor deity loose in an ancient city
it’s a lovely day in mesopotamia and you are a horrible god
You hear the citizens’ prayers and you can chose how terribly to answer them.
If people lose faith in you, you start losing your powers, but being an asshole doesn’t impact faith, people are just as convinced of your existence when they’re cursing your name.
You can try to sabotage other gods by highjacking their prayers
tasks:
get into this other god’s temple
steal the offering off the altar
get their priest to curse at you
press y to bestow favor
There’s a hidden task relating to copper ingots which, if completed, will grant everlasting infamy
achievement unlocked: become the god of fraud
Wow this article came out swinging
Cishets: ugh gay people are everywhere it’s us who are the real minority now!
People who aren’t straight or cis: ummmmmm WHAT
I think like, the death of Vine and Rabbit, Wikipedia constantly needing to beg for money, Discord depending so heavily on venture capital, Facebook turning towards spying on users to generate a return on all the venture capital that got them started, Adobe creative suite turning into a subscription rather than a single product you buy, the strangulation of streaming entertainment as every company pulls their content and makes it exclusive to their service, are all great examples of how like, it really doesn't matter if something is legitimately useful, efficient, or beloved, it is next to impossible for a service to exist if it doesn't make shareholders increasing amounts of money year after year. Which may seem like a "no duh" type of statement, but it's a very simple window into how the profit motive makes products and services worse, not better. And how that's not just a matter of certain companies or ceos being bad and greedy on an individual level, but is an inescapable factor of an economy where existence is dependent on generating capital.
Oh man waiting is so hard
Pig’s convicted, all counts, no badge, no bail, he’s going to jail.
It should be remembered, though, that the prosecution was arguing a pro-cop case; their proposal was that by punishing Chauvin as a sacrificial lamb, the rest of the police force could be re-justified, given that Chauvin was uniquely A Bad Apple that even the other cops would look down on. This was a lose/lose case - it was always just two factions of the oppressors arguing over the tactics to achieve the same goal - something that seems to be a specialty of the US.
Propagandists are gonna be circling around this case like flies. The pigs are probably pissed off that one of their own was sacrificed. We all know how little control the government has over them, so it might get messy out there. Conflict overseas might get ramped up to distract us and unify them.
Summer is still coming: things are going to heat up, and the US will be covered in smoke and fire again. In the meantime, Death to America, and let Chauvin rot in hell.
MPD pivoted to throw Chauvin under the bus during this trial. This was a strategic decision on their part to quell demands to disband the Minneapolis Police. Going forward, there will be a narrative being pushed that protestors “won” and this is all over, that MPD will turn a new leaf. They won’t. We already decided the MPD should be gone. Don’t let them use this as a distraction.

Reblogging again because I just realized that if I had this advice in high school I would’ve never made a tumblr account.
everyone fucking hates capitalism, and it pisses them off, but they dont know they hate capitalism, so they just complain about every issue individually as if its some series of unconnected phenomena with no root cause
Is it possible to “beat” mental illness? Or does it depend on type/circumstance?
“Beating” mental illness is actually the norm, not the exception. Most people who have a major depressive episode never have another one. 80% of people who survive their first suicide attempt never make a second attempt. 93% of Borderline Personality Disorder patients achieve remission. Up to 74% of people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder achieve significant clinical improvement in their symptoms, and 20% achieve full remission. Half of Generalized Anxiety Disorder patients achieve remission after the acute phase of treatment. Even disorders with relatively low rates of remission - bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoid personality disorder - generally become milder and easier to manage as you age. Psychiatric symptoms tend to peak in your 20s and generally drop off as you get older, especially if you seek treatment.Â
This is why the narratives we use to talk about mental illness matter so much. Right now, the dominant narrative is that mental illness is “an imbalance in the brain” and that it’s largely something that people are born with. There are upsides and downsides to this. The upside is that it promotes the idea that mental illness is not the ill person’s fault, and it helps us understand that mental illness can impact anyone, regardless of their life circumstances. The downside, however, is that it’s sort of given us this idea that mental illness is inborn and unchangeable. People have taken on the idea that “that’s just how my brain is”, when the reality is that, for most people, mental illness is less of a stable trait for them, and more of just a shitty thing that they are going through for a little while. The idea that mental illness is just “in your brain” also erases the very real connection between your life circumstances and your mental health - while it’s very true that a wealthy person in a happy marriage can become depressed, it’s also very true that living in poor conditions and being in an abusive marriage can be the cause of depression, and that improving your life circumstances can lessen or eliminate mental health conditions.Â
If you have a mental health condition, it’s very important that you not resign yourself to the idea that you’re going to be like this forever. Chances are, you won’t. Even if you have a mental health condition that is associated with low rates of remission, it is possible to make leaps and bounds in your functioning, and to get to a point where managing your condition becomes second nature to you. Our understanding of mental illness is improving every year, and new therapies and treatments are becoming available all the time. If you seek treatment and do your best to manage your condition, you have every reason to believe that you will make huge improvements.Â
Hope this answers your question!
