Hello, I really wonder what kind of reference you use for making those beautiful (and sexy) muscle for Dan. I trying my best to draw guys with the same amount of muscle, but I can't catch it
Hey there! Thereâs a LOT of muscle tutorials by artists Iâve seen around here and there- but a few quarters ago I took a 10 week course on constructive human anatomy at my school and came to realize all the tutorials I was âlearning fromâ were actually WRONG.Â
If you want to get the best, most accurate reference for human muscles, use medical diagrams. If you only base what you know off someone elseâs stylistic shorthand for how they draw muscles on the surface level- something is BOUND to get lost in translation along the way. Donât just study pictures of people either, you need to understand whatâs happening underneath the skin.
Hereâs some good links I just found that I think are helpful:link // link // link
If you want to get really good at muscles, you also need to understand the skeletal system to a degree. Google-ing â_muscle name_ origin and insertionâ will bring up pictures to show you exactly how that muscle attaches to the bone, fits in-between the muscles around it, and acts when flexed.
Once you understand how the muscles themselves work, youâll have a MUCH easier time knowing exactly which marks to make and exaggerating stuff for different body types.
As for Dan himselfâ His body type is slightly based off of HafĂŸĂłr JĂșlĂus Björnsson and that super built Worldâs Strongest Man competition type body hahaÂ
Hope that maybe helps a little????????
