1. Contrary to your expectation, cars strangely speed up up just as you try to cross the road.
2. The only product that sells in Guwahati is food. Bench mark prices Momo=Rs.30, Rolls=Rs.40, Pork= guess?
3. When KFC first opened in Guwahati, the queue was over 1 Km.
4. Entertainment places : Dona Planet = Movie, Shopping modern Clothes = Sohum Shoppe, Fancy Bazar= aunties shopping at bargain Prices, bowling = pantaloons.
5. Being from Uzan Bazar implies you are 'LOCAL'!
6. Commerce College is known more for Chicken momos than education.
7. It is your choice whether to stop or not when asked by the traffic police. Not your choice if you are a taxi driver.
8. Tourists come here to and discover that Guwahati is not on a hill and also that it is safe.
9. Tourists find it hard to believe that the 3+ km. width of Brahmaputra is one of its narrowest section. Its widest section is over 10 km in width.
10. Kamakhya Temple is the 'to go' place for tourists. Just like internet, you can reach God at different speeds : VIP =High Speed darshan within 20 min =Rs.500 per person, Speed darshan within 2 hours = Rs. 100 per person, General Lane = Reach God within 24 hours waiting = Rs. 10. However, the place is an architectural wonder and is of great historical and mythological significance. Do not miss it. Just above the Kamakhya temple there is a 'Zindagi na milegi Dobara' spot where you can see the entire Guwahati in lights and reflect upon your life like Hrithik.
11. 'Beli View' is a sunset point in Guwahati by the river Brahmaputra. It is a to be place for joggers and boasts of true beauty at dawn and dusk. You cant get fresher air and a more beautiful spot in Guwahati. Though its name is believed to be Assamese name of Sun (called Beli in Assamese) View, it actually derives its name from an old Hotel Bellevue (French name) near the Governor house.
12. The whole of North East has fresh air, but there is saying in Assamese called 'Guwahatir hawa (air) lagil' meaning 'The kid got spoilt'
