Mila doesn’t even fight the grin that slowly spreads across her lips. “You have no idea how amazing it is to hear you say that. I’m just as interested in you and it is so refreshing to hear someone say what you just said. I’m the same way. No games. No crap,” she agrees with him. “There are tons of amazing girls so I definitely wouldn’t tell you not to keep your options open. Just don’t forget about me?” She tells him with a hopeful tone to her voice. “i promise I won’t forget about you. No matter who I took to today, I think that you are going to be the one my mind keeps going back to. Whether it’s crazy of me to admit that or not.” 

“Yeah?” Jude asks, more than pleased to hear that she’s interested in him as well. “I love that. No games. No crap. We’re both here to find something real, and I don’t have time to waste guessing feelings,” he smiles. “Babe, I couldn’t forget about you if I tried,” he tells her. “Not that I would ever want to,” he shrugs, getting up from the bench so he can go over to her side of it and sit next to her. “Might be a little crazy, I guess,” he shrugs. “But I really don’t care. I’ve always been into that sort of thing,” he smirks before leaning in to kiss her.

“Nah. No need to be sad for me. It’s not like every person I’ve met has been a totally jerk. Just not as sweet as you,” Mila clarifies. “And besides, it’s a good thing for you. You’re right. Less competition,” she’s quick to add. “We do live in a shallow world and it makes me kinda bummed. Guess there’s nothing I can do to change people, though.” She’s quick to nod, “I do.” His hand feels smooth against hers, but she can’t keep herself from rolling her eyes playfully at him again. “Forget about you the minute you walk away? What do you think I am? A goldfish? I can guarantee that I won’t be forgetting about you. Not for a really, really long time.” 

“Well, I’m gonna be honest with you, the less competition the better for me, because I’m really enjoying talking with you,” Jude confesses. “And I know you have lots of options here, so I’m not gonna keep you from talking to the other guys, but I’m not here to play games, you know? I’m interested in you, and I’m not going to beat around the bush about that,” he smiles confidently. “If you find someone you like more, that’s totally okay, but you won’t ever really need to guess about how I feel because I’m an open book,” he adds. “No, definitely not a goldfish! I just know there’s other guys here who are hot and nice, so you might momentarily forget about me,” he explains with a laugh.

“You’re definitely the sweetest person I’ve met in a really long time. How’s that for a start?” Mila smirks, the rolling of his eyes coming off a bit more attractive than she imagines he’s aiming it to. “Damn, you are wise. I could listen to you talk about things all day long. And you’re spot on,” she adds. “It’s all totally true. There’s people who are nothing more than just a pretty face and then there are people who are attractive on the inside and the outside. Oh! And there are also people who have super ugly insides and that makes their outside ugly. Even if they’re physically attractive.” At his last comment it’s Mila’s turn to roll her eyes and she’s quick to shake her head a little. “That was smooth. Not gonna lie.

“I’ll take it. I’m a little sad for you that you haven’t met any sweeter people for such a long time, but I’ll take it. Means I have less competition, right?” Jude smirks back. “Exactly. I definitely think that more people should care more about what’s on the inside of a person, but I guess we live in a shallow world,” he sighs with a little shrug of his shoulders. “You think so?” he asks, teasing as he reaches forward to brush against the back of her hand. “I’m trying my best here. I gotta stick out from the rest of the guys, you know? I don’t want you to forget about me the minute you walk away.”

“Holy crap, really? Well, first of all, I feel bad that you ever had to communicate with someone who wasn’t nice, because I’ve been talking to you for all of five minutes and I already know that you’re the sweetest person ever,” Mila declares. “I totally get it, though. It’s not fair that sometimes the most attractive human ever can turn out to be a giant jerk. Kills the vibe entirely,” she agrees. “I guess the bright side is that it makes you eve more appreciative of the sweet people. The people who are unexpectedly kind or the super rare gems that are attractive and sweet. Like you.”

“Oh my god, I don’t know about sweetest person ever,” Jude laughs, rolling his eyes slightly. He’s definitely flattered by that. “I think that title probably goes to you,” he grins. “But I guess it’s just part of life, you know? Some people are very smart and very attractive, but not nice. Some people are very talented and very sweet, but not attractive. I mean, to be honest, I think everyone is attractive in their own way, and that’s especially true if they’re passionate about something, but a lot of people only see attraction on a surface level and don’t really care about what’s on the inside, and that’s a shame,” he expresses. “Oh, totally. The attractive and sweet people like Miss Mila Simmons,” he winks.

Mila can instantly tell that Jude doesn’t have a huge ego and that’s part of what makes him someone she’s interested in talking to. She’s never understood people who feel like they are owed something just by being pretty or attractive. It’s never a good look. “Yes, I totally agree. Even the most beautiful person could be completely unattractive because they’re not a good person. And the same can be said about someone who isn’t necessarily super attractive. They have a good personality and bam, I’m obsessed,” she laughs softly. “Well, thank you. The feeling is more than mutual.”

“I feel like you’re reading my mind, lady,” Jude laughs and shakes his head. “When I was in high school there was this girl that I was downright in love with, but the first time I tried to talk to her she was honestly super rude to me, and then the glass kinda shattered and I was able to see that she was rude to everyone, and almost instantly I was no longer interested,” he recalls. “It’s sad, because sometimes people who are the most attractive have shitty personalities, and vice versa. Doesn’t seem fair, you know?”

mila-simmons‌:

“You’re sweet. Thank you,” Mila beams, thankful that one of the first people she’s met is at least someone that is sweet. “You definitely shouldn’t feel intimidated. You’re super attractive and you’re sweet. Which to me is way more important than your physical appearance. Christmas lights and flowers? I like that. And you’re totally right. I love Christmas lights and I also love flowers so if they can both be pretty, that means I can be pretty and so can all of the insanely beautiful women that are here.”

“Ah, thank you,” Jude dips his head as he smiles gently. He knows he isn’t ugly, but unlike a lot of the guys here, he doesn’t have a huge ego about it. He doesn’t think anyone owes him anything, and it still means a lot when people compliment him or tell him he’s attractive. “I think so, too. I mean about being sweet. A person’s personality absolutely makes or breaks their attractiveness. At least to me. If you’re a shitty person, you’re gonna be ugly to me even if you’re a model or something. And I don’t say that to be rude, it’s just how my brain makes associations,” he shrugs. “Trust me. You’re just as pretty as everyone else here.”

“I totally get that. I was a fan of the show before I went on, but I totally rewatched previous seasons before I went on to make sure that I knew what I was really getting into. It’s a lot,” Mila agrees with a soft nod of her head. When he’s telling her not to let people intimidate her and he’s complimenting her and calling her baby, it’s taking everything in her not to just completely swoon right there in front of him. “Well, thank you. I’m normally a super confident girl because why not? This is just such an insane experience that I guess it’s a lot easier to get inside my head.” 

“As you should be! You’ve got everything to be confident about,” Jude continues to praise her, lift her up. That’s sort of his thing. “I totally get that though. As normally confident as I am in myself, I do feel intimidated here just because everyone is so pretty. It’s easy to forget your own worth. But the thing that helps me in moments like that are that comparison between christmas lights and flowers. They’re both pretty, and they look nothing alike! So, just because everyone else here is beautiful, doesn’t mean you’re not just as beautiful, you know?”

mila-simmons‌:

“I do. I know you weren’t on for that long, but I can’t help but notice an attractive guy, I guess,” Mila admits as she shrugs slightly. Maybe that’s a tad flirtatious for right off the bat, but that’s the point of all this, isn’t it? She knows she isn’t going to vibe with everyone here, but she has to at least put feelers out when she’s interested and then she can just see where it goes. “I wasn’t the most memorable on my season, so I’ll forgive you. I unfortunately was joined by a few girls who liked to cause drama and make themselves known in obnoxious ways and that meant that us slightly normal girls went unnoticed,” she explains with a shake of her head. “Oh gosh, I know. I definitely wasn’t self-conscious until I got here. I came over here honestly because I was sick of sucking in my gut as I talked to people. Chips are way better anyway.”

“No, that’s.. that’s really flattering,” Jude says, his chest feeling lighter all of a sudden. One that she would remember him in general and two at the compliment she added. “Thank you. I’m sure if I’d paid more attention to your season I would have remembered you! I only watched it to get a vague idea of how the show works so I wouldn’t be super out of the loop when I showed up,” he laughs. “Why the hell were you sucking in your gut? You gotta be you, baby. Don’t let others intimidate you,” Jude shakes his head. “You’re gorgeous, you know that, right?”

Mila hadn’t really paid a ton of attention to who she was waving over, but once she’s got a good look at him, she is pleasantly surprised and happy for herself. She takes his hand and shakes it before pushing the bowl of chips closer to the middle of the table as opposed to it’s previous place right in front of her. “I totally remember you. I was so surprised when you went home so early. I’m Mila. I was on Ben’s season. Not that I made it all that far into it,” she chuckles. She hadn’t ended up forming the huge connection with Ben on her season that she had envisioned she’d have, but she tried really hard not to let it dampen her spirits. She figured trying this way to form a connection with someone would be more fun anyway and she left it at that. “It’s crazy beautiful here, isn’t it?” She asks him as she puts a chip into her mouth. 

“You remember me?” Jude’s eyes widen slightly. Honestly, if she had recognized him from instagram or something he would understand, but he was really only on the show for three weeks so it was surprising that anyone would remember him all that much. He tried to make an impression on Marissa, so he supposed it was a good thing that he stood out, he was just surprised. When the girl introduces herself, Jude smiles. “Mila,” he nods, shaking her hand and then dropping it gently. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m sorry I don’t immediately remember you. I only started watching the show right before the season I was on, and even then it was only sporadically,” he explains as he reaches for a chip and dips it in the salsa. “It really is. Not only just the ocean and the sand and all that but also everyone here. It’s like I’m sharing a house with a bunch of models,” he laughs.

Mila was super excited to be in the midst of this crazy experience and the fact that she couldn’t wipe the smile off of her face was proof. She loved everything about meeting people and getting to know all different kinds of people and she hoped that somewhere in this crazy group there would be someone she connected with enough to maybe fall in love. She was sitting at one of the tables on the sand as she looked around and took everything in. Once she spotted someone not too far off in the distance, she looks over and motions them with her free hand. “Hey! There’s chips and salsa over here. Come on, I’ll share,” she announces with an enthusiastic tone and a huge grin on her face. 

Was Jude the most well-known contestant from his season? Not really. Only a few weeks into the show, he was called by his manager and given an ultimatum. Considering the fact that he couldn’t quite find a connection with the bachelorette at the time anyway, he gracefully bowed out of the competition. Luckily for him though, he gained quite the fan following on his social media accounts since being on the show, and he got a new manager who gives him more time on his own, so everything fell right into place for him to be on Bachelor in Paradise. As he glanced around the set at the few people that have already arrived, he noticed someone waving over to him at one of the tables, and with a grin on his face, he sauntered over. “Chips and salsa? Hell yeah. Count me in,” Jude cheers, sitting across from the girl and offering a hand to her before he touches the food. “I’m Jude. Marissa’s season.”
