Would you change anything in your life?
âmaybe? i was thinking about getting a haircut the other day, does that count? if not then maybe the fact that iâm a vegetarian? i used to eat meat but then this one kid i was placed in a foster home with did some really fucked up shit to his pets and made a point of telling me every gory detail so, long story short... iâve been a vegetarian since i was nine years old. iâd maybe change that whole period of my life to it never happening.â
if you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
âprobably back home -- rome, i mean. i havenât been there since i was six - because iâm scared to see what my life couldâve been like if my parents didnât die - and it would be nice to go back. hell, i could even drag dylan and nathan along. that way we could all get to see where i came from. besides, itâs a beautiful city, what more could a girl want?â
What would you tell to a teenage version of you?
âas cheesy as it sounds, i would tell my teenage self that it gets better. that i'm not always going to be scared to feel the way that i feel and that i will actually find a place to belong. i spent so much of my life believing that i was never wanted by anyone else. so much so that i never realised that it was me who didn't want me. my parents are dead, iâm a foster kid and iâm gay - but that doesnât define me. one day, youâll wake up and find the thing that does and when you do; donât fight it. -- basically, iâll be my own damn agony aunt. oh, and donât let paul williams walk all over you at the academy. kick his ass and be unapologetic about it.â
dylan deluca ;;
dylanâs lips pursed in thought, her head tilting in consideration. âthatâs⌠completely true,â she admitted with a shrug, a hand dismissing her wifeâs wink in feigning annoyance. ââ but, to be fair, the bruises i leave on you arenât nearly as gnarly as the ones you get in duty.â dylan could argue on that for hours; articulated sentences to prove that she only marked jules with love bites because that was all they were, love bites. âwhatever helps you sleep at night, babe. â and whatever keeps you from ugly crying in my place of work. i have a good reputation here and i donât want you to ruin it,â she joked, but her hand rested upon julesâ, the smile that played on her lips brightened her features even more. âi am, kisses, chinese food and pillow fights might be the only way to cure me.â while midst feigning another cough, dylanâs jaw dropped agape at her wifeâs words. âreally? âcause weâve been married for a while now and you still believe me when i tell you you donât have morning breath. i call that good acting.â dylan chuckled at her own joke, but rolled her eyes as jules seemed to encourage nathan to watch power rangers. âjules, no. â god, not this again. if i didnât know you any better, iâd think you and madds are plotting against me. â and you know nathan loves you.â
âhmm, maybe. though, to be fair, i tend to be fond of those ones,â she chuckled. âhard to explain, but so fun to make. at least the ones i get from doing my duty means i'm doing something good -- you know, making a difference and shit like that. a few bruises or cuts or whatever is just a small price to pay.â her job came with a few risks; jules knew that and dylan knew that, and there was nothing in the world that would make jules trade that in for a little bit of safety. she had spent her life working towards this point, and it was something that she couldn't see herself giving up. âlast time i checked, you helped me sleep at night -- but, you know... semantics,â she smirked. âi'm not going to ugly cry at the nurses station, jesus. that's my behind closed doors move, it's not for the public eye. hell, it wasn't even supposed to be your eye but you keep insisting on those damn movies and i just -- i'm still holding all of that against you, by the way.â turning her palm, jules slipped her fingers between the gaps of dylan's and gripped softly. she wasn't often one for public displays of affection, but the little touches and glances from the other always seemed to set her heart on fire and she couldn't stop herself. âi can definitely do all three, though i'd prefer it if the kid was asleep before we do the first part,â she winked again. âthat's -- you've just offended me. really really offended me,â she wrinkled her nose and made a face. though, to be fair, jules had been so paranoid about such a fact that she had often snuck out of bed and brushed her teeth before returning to her wife. it was a habit she still often partook in. â--- why would i plot with him?â she arched a brow, thumb rubbing arches across the back of dylan's hand. âyeah, well... it's harder for me. he doesn't know me as well as he does you or maddox, i feel like i have to try ten times harder.â
maddox smith ;;
to say maddox wasnât used to this kind of reaction from jules would be a complete lie; it was pretty obvious to him that they werenât anything close to friends. but that wasnât going to stop him from trying; especially considering he loved his son and dylan, so it was only fair to try and get on the other femaleâs good side. âjudge all you want, then. but her life choices led to the best little boy in the world and I know you agree with that, grumpy gills.â her words didnât hinder his dance moves at all and he threw her another grin, âyou donât need to be drunk to feel the music.â
â--- true,â jules muttered under her breath. while their situation often left her feeling like she was three steps behind and uneasy, she did love nathan. he had become a part of her life just as much as dylan did; a package deal, if you will. the whole maddox thing, however, was not an easy pill to swallow. âstill not going to dance with you, though,â she then added. âmaybe not, but i want to be.â
erin lindsay ;;
âI think all woman at point in their lives have dreamed of a time when periods are no more. Kids being the only concern.â She said pausing as she considered that, needing to take a few sips of her coffee before going on. âI used to feel the same way, growing up the way I did you can never even fathom the idea of being able to provide any kind of stability to another life. But I donât really know anymore. How is that?â She asked though unsure if it was alright to ask about her personal situation.
âperiods i can handle, it's the expectation that i'm supposed to carry a kid just because i have a vagina that gets me,â jules made a face. more often than not, her mouth ran faster than her brain, but at the end of the day she was unapologetically herself -- and her co-workers were probably more than used to her random outbursts or straight to the point views on situations by this point. âi uh -- that's mostly my problem as well. i've never really had a parent, so how can i be one? it just...â she shook her shoulders and looked down at her mug again. it was a touchy subject for jules, but she was getting better at addressing it lately. âhow is -- oh, you mean with dylan's kid? he's amazing, i guess? i mean, he's... a lot. you know, like any five year old, i suppose, but i think i'm slowly getting there. i don't think his dad agrees, though. i'm just... trying.â
maddox smith ;;
   â â i can feel you judging my moves,â the male continued to throw some minor shoulder action into his little jig, âand quite frankly, I donât care one tiny bit.â he threw them a wink, partnered with a slight smile, before closing his eyes and bobbing his head a little to the beat. âcome on, I know you want to come dance with me. donât be a party pooper!â
jules just stared. she said nothing but judged harshly. was this really the man that knocked up her wife? âi think now is definitely the time to start judging my wife's life choices,â she retorted as her head shook from side to side. the officer was not a dancer -- in fact, her whole athleticism was a mask for the fact that she had very little co-ordination. yet... maddox didn't need to know that. âi'm not drunk enough for this.â
erin lindsay ;;
Erin laughed into her coffee mug before taking a long sip, the caffeine boost very much needed as usual. âSpeaking as someones whose already been there, not that monumental.â She said with the lift of her shoulder. âIâd say weâre good till menopause hits.â
â--- i feel like i should be concerned with the amount of people that mention menopause to me,â jules made a face as she fidgeted with the handle of her own mug. breaks were far and few between when you wore the chicago blue, but she was trying to make the most of it. unfortunately, the reminder of her upcoming birthday was proving to be a downer. âi could've hit menopause at fifteen and i literally wouldn't have cared. kids aren't my thing. which, is ironic if you think about it considering i married someone with one.â

âForget the party then. Itâs all about wine and dinner.â Her smile didnât drop for a second while she spoke. âItâll be your day. It should make you feel comfortable.â Emma was the last person to push others into things they didnât want. As someone who liked to go to extremes to get an adrenaline rush, she learned quickly how to let people be and instead focus on the things they enjoyed. âShe wouldnât kill you. She loves you too much to do that. Sheâd just never forget and maybe support you whacking yourself for it.â A chuckle left her lips before she spoke again. âMaybe donât add your occupation. I bet a smart-ass would simply tell you to quit your job to reduce stress.â
âis this just you trying to find a reason to party without actually having to go out and find one? how could you use me like this?â she teased, chuckling softly. âi'm usually fine with doing nothing anyway so it doesn't really make a difference to me. i usually just go with whatever dyl wants to do because, you know, she's too damn cute to deny,â she wrinkled her nose and pouted a little. regardless, jules wouldn't hesitate to bend to dylan's whims - she was too whipped, as they say - the ring only made it more official. âshe probably won't, but have you ever been the subject of her glare? jesus christ, i've seen horror movies more tame than those eyes,â she pointed two fingers at her own eyes then turned them on the other. âi probably wouldn't forgive myself if i did that, anyway, so i guess we're both lucky in that aspect because i'll never lose them.â reaching out, she wrapped her knuckles on the table surface. âknock on wood,â she then said. âyeah, you're right -- i have you and dylan to do that for me so wouldn't need to add a random ass internet person onto that list as well. though, to be fair, my job is probably one of the least stressful things in my life.â
michelle o'donoghue ;;
âGod, that makes me a dinosaur, then,â she interjected, looking down through her shades at the other woman. In theory, being thirty-four wasnât all that bad; she couldnât complain about it. ââ seriously, mate, youâre most likely not going to die in your thirties, so it canât be that shitty for you â I meanâŚâ Misha trailed off, pointing at herself as she fondly shrugged her shoulders, âLook at me. You will never find a better example for an old geezer who looks like yours trulyâŚâ yes, at this point, she had given up being serious. What was the point of it, anyway? ââ you could also ask someone to PUNCH YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR, and I could volunteer, soâŚâ
âpractically prehistoric,â jules smirked. âyou never know in this job, honestly. i've already lost count of how many times i've went home with bruises in places were bruises shouldn't be. who knows what's gonna happen next? i might trip chasing a perp and my head might fall off -- the possibilities are endless.â of course, jules knew this was incredibly far from being an actual situation she could find herself in, but would she be jules if she didn't mock herself every now and then? âyeah, well... that's true. i mean, how do you do it? do you have some weird advanced moisturising shit? tell me your secrets, o'donoghue!â it wasn't like jules had any trouble in that department, but every little helps, right? â--- is that basically your roundabout way of saying you want to punch me...?â
