like FIRE around the brim burning solid, burning thin, the burning rim; like stars burning holes right through the DARK flicking fire like saltwater into my eyes — you were one inch from the edge of this bed ;;
“--- fussing over you? You must’ve mistaken me for someone else,” she replied, shrugging her shoulders fondly. “I’m just here to...” trailing off, Misha tapped her notebook with a black pen, “--- you know the drill.”
danielle could barely contain the look of surprise as she was shown the bite mark on the other’s arm. “that’s a bit… extreme,” she winced. “make sure you get checked for rabies, you have no idea what’s in that man’s saliva.” the photojournalist shuddered at the thought. “nice to know, though. it’s always good to hear when people get their comeuppance. it’d be such a shame to let him get away with it, after all.” there was a small sense of satisfaction in knowing that the other woman could stand up for herself; defend herself. danielle admired that attribute in a person and it was something that she tried to embody every day of her life, though lately it had become more about hiding behind the lens than confronting what was in front of it. “you want me to join you at the shooting range? – with no prior knowledge to whether or not i can handle a weapon like that? that’s either incredibly dumb or highly brave. i’ve yet to decide which is which. still, can’t exactly pass up this free invite.”
the dark haired female scrunched up her nose. maybe that little fact was not the best thing to reveal about herself, especially to someone who isn’t exactly known for being able to relate to emotional situations – even if it was over something as inconsequential as a sports team. “it happened one time, and i’d appreciate if it’s never used against me. if you do, i’ll be sure to sue for defamation.” she wouldn’t, but it was sure as hell fun to say – god, she needed to get out more. “you can, i guess? i can’t exactly tell you what to do with this kind of thing. lord knows you’ll just blow everything that i say off, anyway. so, really, it’s up to you. ignore it or don’t, it’ll be no skin off my nose. ignorance is your new best friend or whatever the shit is that they say.”
Michelle was sure than just about everything was so much better than getting shot at multiple times -- and her injuries from yesterday were nothing compared to everything she’s gone through. After seeing Dani’s surprised expression, the agent couldn’t help but allow a faint smirk appear on her lips for a brief second, “--- already got it covered,” she assured. “Boss insisted on doing a check up, and I had no other choice than to listen to him.” The man was right -- she couldn’t take the risk and live without knowing that she’s caught something terrible from all the other people she'd fought against. He kept repeating that it was better safe than be sorry later on, and Misha had to agree with that; if anything bad happened to her, and she wouldn’t be able to do her job, she’d be straight up miserable until the end of time... Which was... an understatement, really. “You can always watch?” Misha offered, “--- or I could brief you in anything you need to know when entering the room -- I just thought it would be a fun... bonding experience, I guess.”
She shrugged, again. “I don’t really have anyone close enough to me to be able to share that story with, so consider yourself safe,” Michelle spoke up quietly. In a way, being a lone wolf out in the big, big world was a good thing, but sometimes it was getting her into all sorts of mood swings and it was never good for anyone around. She swore that she was working on getting better at talking with people and not scaring them off the minute she opens her mouth, but it was hard. It was hard, because once you’ve been metaphorically locked out from the world, getting out felt like something impossible to do. When she was younger, she was terrified as to what people would think of her, but now? Now, she couldn’t care less about it. “I wouldn’t -- in most cases, I would take it into consideration and then elect to ignore it,” she stated. “Other than that, I do give a damn about what you have to say.”
Jaina took a few self defense classes here and there, and Kai taught her a couple moves being the over protective brother he is— but Jaina still hadn’t managed the strength to take on someone bigger than her who was really trying to hurt her. Maybe she’d consider going to the gym now..
“Uhm, fairly often. Don’t tell my boss though or he’ll hire extra security and that takes away from my paycheck. I’m barely making rent as is.” Jaina sighed, fiddling with her fingers as she normally did when she was concerned. “By all means, go ahead. I think some of them would get a kick out of a pretty lady who can whoop ass.”
“--- you don’t have to worry about that, I am not a gossippy kind of person -- in fact, I don’t even talk all that much, in general,” well, unless the situation calls for it, that is. She’s been known to be able to bite her tongue in the most dangerous situations, but some people were bringing out the worst of her, and God only knows what would’ve happened if she ended up doing something, instead trying to talk it out first.
“This ‘pretty lady’ also has a shiny badge that she...” she trailed off, patting the place she’d usually have it pinned down, “... left at home, apparently.” Misha added, shrugging it off, because it didn’t really matter, now, did it? “I am surprised no one else moved and helped you out with that arsehole -- I saw plenty of familiar faces the moment I stepped in,” she commented. “Lazy twats, let me tell ya’.”
Jaina crossed her arms as she stood behind the other woman, she was no stranger to other people intervening for her own safety. Jaina was tiny and she’d gotten hit trying to stop fights before so most people wanted to keep her safe and not send her to the hospital for stitches again.
“I’ve seen plenty things spilled on this floor, teeth would just be another one on my list.” She told the man, putting her hands on her hips as she waited for him to speak. He finally opted with a mumbled apology and left with the other men crowded at his table. “Thanks—” Jaina told the brunette, pushing a strand of hair back behind her ear. “Anything you want, it’s on the house. Yeah?”
She had to lift her head up just to look at the man who was basically towering over both of them; still, she liked to think she had a bit of an advantage when it was coming to making some damage to his body. After all, these years she spent on training in her parents’ military base didn’t go to waste -- she was able to take down just about anybody if she tried hard enough.
“Wasn’t quite loud enough for me to think it was an acceptable apology, but I did have a good day, so I’ll let you get the fuck out without causing you any harm,” Misha commented, her signature right eyebrow lift made an appearance, “--- no need.” After the woman turned to the barmaid, she kindly declined her offer. “Do tell, do those kinds of things happen often ‘round ‘ere? I might want to start visiting this place more often, to unwind.”
despite the not so subtle threat that came from the other, danielle made no move whatsoever to delete said photo from her camera. see liked to catch the rawness of humanity on film and that often went without permission, though a little part of her only refused to erase the picture because it was annoying the other so much – a playful move, if you will, but she could only hope that the older of the two would change her mind when she saw the finished product. “i’m guessing i don’t have to ask who looks better out of the two of you?” she arched a brow. she hadn’t known the other for long, but she was quick to learn that if a punch was thrown a second wouldn’t even pass before it was returned. for some reason, danielle found comfort in that. violence had surrounded her life for three years, and still being around it was like being wrapped up in a blanket – a violent, unstable, weirdass blanket. “that’s always fun.”
after a short pause, the photojournalist just shrugged. she wasn’t the toughest of kids in the physical or emotional department so a setback such as having her pants pulled down did not garner any such response for the girl. instead, she had frozen on the spot, cried and then ran out and refused to go back to school for an entire four days. thankfully, she liked to believe she had improved somewhat since then. “something like that,” she waved it off. “that’s the thing, misha. you don’t get to decide whether someone cares or not. they just do or they don’t. it’s as simple as that,” danielle explained. “the blackhawks don’t necessarily concern me but i still cry every time they lose a damn game. that doesn’t make me less of a person just because of that, and neither does caring for someone who doesn’t give a shit. it’s the way of life and you just have to deal.”
If there was a way she could remove the picture from Danielle’s camera with only using her mind, she wouldn’t hesitate a moment before doing so; there was just something strange, in her opinion, in having to document every single thing, every little interaction, detail of the human life. But, it was a part of her job, still. Misha would have to build a bridge and get over it sooner or later. She rose her hand up, showing the bruised, partially bloodied knuckles to the other, “See those? -- TEETH MARKS,” the woman commented briefly. “He was collecting them off the floor the moment I got up from it.” Not her proudest moment, but she’s always been known to roll with the (literal) punches whenever her opponent throws them at her. A part of her wished she hadn’t stopped her military training, but then, she wouldn’ve have become who she truly wanted to be -- an agent. “--- sadly, only at the lab’s shooting range, but that will do,” Misha added, “Wanna join me?”
Talking about her own feelings and concerns was out the question, at least for now; she simply shrugged it off and decided it would be best if she didn’t continue digging herself a fresh, deep hole in the metaphorical ground. “You do? That’s... CUTE,” Michelle didn’t even remember the last time she cried. The rumour has it, that her parents made her surgically remove her tear ducts when she was still a kid -- or at least that’s what she heard in the office, from one of the detectives. “I mean... I can always ignore them, right? It’s what I do most of the time, anyway.”
She’d been trying to just smile and nod her way through the sea of vulgar comments the drunk man had been giving that entire afternoon, but after one a little too crude for Jaina’s liking, she turned around quickly. “Listen, man, if you wanna keep talking like that you better get out of my bar.” She stormed up to him, pointing an accusing finger.
It wasn’t often that Misha could be found at a bar, much less one with people who didn’t know how to keep their mouths shut. She saw a rather tiny figure inching closer and closer to the highly intoxicated man and moved her head to the side, squinting, just to be able to take a better look at the situation before it gets too heated.
The agent quickly downed the rest of her drink and pushed herself off the stool; her eyes still trained on the person who’s causing the scene. “--- no, no,” she interruped, gently placing her hand on the woman’s shoulder. “Let me take care of this.” Adding, she didn’t even wait a second before getting her approval and shoved the guy. Technically, she couldn’t do anything else, but there was no way she’s going to let him interrupt everyone’s else night out. “It’s your lucky day, mate --- you’ll get to choose your own destiny,” she spoke up, “You can either apologize to the lady, or you will collect your teeth off the floor after I beat the shit out of you for disrespecting her...”
danielle raised her camera and took a photo of the exchange between the one wearing sunglasses and the older woman. “can’t blame the woman for being curious,” the photojournalist commented absently when the other was finally alone. “am i going to get the same treatment if i ask what happened?” she arched a brow.
the brunette didn’t entirely care what had happened to the other, but she was just as curious as the woman beforehand and she had always been taught to pursue anything and everything that caused such an interest to peak, it had been the reason why she got into photography, after all. “maybe,” she shrugged, placing her camera back down on the table after putting the lens cap on. “at least you’re not the girl that got pantsed in gym class and is reminded of that every time she runs into someone from that year. now that – that’s what is fuckin’ ridiculous here.”
“If you delete the photo you just took, you won’t,” she nearly snapped, her voice falling flat after she realized who she was talking to. After Misha cleared her throat, she shook her head at her own words. Geez, this was surely going to be an amazing day, especially if she started it off in that way -- she was SO looking forward to seeing what else is going to happen later on. “--- other than being punched in the face by an almost seven feet tall scumbag? Well... -- lots’a drugs and weapons that were supposed to be smuggled out of the country got back into our hands and we’re taking care of ‘em now.” Was that good enough of an answer? Michelle had little to no idea, but the other woman would have to just roll with that, seeing as she won’t tell her anything more on the case she was about to close. “I’m going to get to play with the BIG GUNS again.”
Cue the signature eyebrow raise here; the agent took her hands out of the pockets and placed them on her hips, listening to what the other had to say without interrupting for once. “Shit, please, DO tell me that you at least yelled at the arsehole who did this to you,” she commented, holding in her laughter at the best of her ability. “I just... don’t like when people care about shit that shouldn’t concern them, that is all. It makes me feel weird ‘cause there’s at least ninety percent chance that I don’t give a shit about them, in return.”
While Brielle normally made it a point to mind her business, the sound of a familiar voice mentioning a black eye was all it took for her curiosity to peak. Eyes finding the source of the commotion, the brunette shook her head, an amused smile on her face as she did so. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to find Misha reacting like this. She knew firsthand just how wary the other could be when it came to someone even showing an ounce of concern for her well-being.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d say the sunglasses were you just trying to be boujee,” she mused, her voice finally speaking up. Marking her place in the book she had been reading, Brielle shut it, her attention now fully going onto the woman before her.
“What happened anyways?” It was a simple question, one fueled by both curiosity and concern. While the agent was no way obligated to answer, the analyst figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. After all, what was the worse thing the other could do. reply with some witty quip? She’d be able to handle that and any other remark that came her way.
“--- or just trying to hide the biggest hungover ever known to the mankind, same thing,” she mused. “You think all those rich people wear ‘em to disguise themselves, but in reality they’re sloshed at least seventy percent of the time you see them outside...” Misha’s view on some things might have been a little bit off and filled with copious amounts of judgement, but she didn’t care. She liked speaking her mind, even if it was considered rude or wrong -- people who knew something about her had probably gotten used to that, but for a stranger, she just seemed like a highly strung, opinionated jerk. She did not mind it. Not even one bit.
“Drug bust case turned into a brawl,” the agent replied, shrugging as she cracked her knuckles out in a habit, right before showing he hand to Brielle, “thank fuck that it’s just a bruised hand and a black eye, though.” Well, there was one more thing that was bruised -- her EGO. God only knows it’s nearly as big as the Great Pyramid of Giza, if not even bigger. “--- you should’ve seen the other guys, though. I almost feel bad for them. But then... They brought it upon themselves, so...”
Yes, Michelle was aware that wearing sunglasses inside was a DOUCHEBAG move, but she would rather do that, instead of being asked about the same thing over and over again. And yet, here she was – being pestered by someone who apparently was just curious as to what happened and why she was looking like she’s been basically driven over by a steamroller.
“SERIOUSLY, ma’am, it’s just a black eye — it’ll heal in like two or three weeks give or take. It’s nothing you should be concerned about.” she answered, turning her back to the older woman ( frankly, she was guessing, Misha was BAD at this; her age was none of her business, still ) before she could say something else.
As the other person walked away, Misha could only do so much as shove her hands into the pockets of her jet black jeans and lean against the wall to calm down at least a little bit.
“—— absolutely bloody fuckin’ RIDICULOUS,” she grumbled, mostly to herself. Not being used to having people genuinely care about her sucked, big time. But, in all honesty, who was she to know if the woman was worried, or just nosy, as per usual. “You get injured on the job that ONE time and then THIS shit happens…”
“do you know what i realised this morning?” jules cradled a warm cup of coffee between her palms as fingers danced against the handle. “a few months. that’s all i have left,” she sighed dramatically before taking a long sip. “a few more months and then i’ll be thirty. i’m not ready to leave my twenties. the midlife crisis thing isn’t for me.” though, to be fair, jules had been in the middle of a midlife crisis since she was fifteen years old. “it’s 2017 and they haven’t found a way to stop this? i’m offended.”
“God, that makes me a dinosaur, then,” she interjected, looking down through her shades at the other woman. In theory, being thirty-four wasn’t all that bad; she couldn’t complain about it. “— seriously, mate, you’re most likely not going to die in your thirties, so it can’t be that shitty for you – I mean…” Misha trailed off, pointing at herself as she fondly shrugged her shoulders, “Look at me. You will never find a better example for an old geezer who looks like yours truly…” yes, at this point, she had given up being serious. What was the point of it, anyway? “— you could also ask someone to PUNCH YOU ALL THE WAY TO THE PREVIOUS YEAR, and I could volunteer, so…”
it me again, but this time around, i’m throwing misha @ u
special agent michelle o’donoghue would quite literally sell just about anyone to satan for a cornchip if they ever called her michelle instead of MISHA,
...that probably does inclue everyone with a higher rank than her, as well,
for some reason, she just doesn’t like her name, AT ALL,
if you’ve ever heard of rosa diaz or darlene alderson -- misha is basically a slightly tamer version of those two tbh,
also, this entire weapons-thing might have been inspired by the throwaways, but shh,
carries a switchblade with her almost everywhere -- apparently, it’s like a fidget toy for her,
she’s the only character of mine that actually sleeps well, surprise, surprise,
has a big interest in martial arts --- dabbled in karate, boxing, kickboxing, you name it,
wants to learn some more, like an overachiever she is; that goes without saying,
as much as she loved getting in trouble when she was younger, she wasn’t that big of a problem child while growing up -- she just simply didn’t know when to shut the hell up to not make anything ten times worse; gotta love that no filter life, right?
doesn’t exactly have trust issues of any kind, but she is really, really skeptical most of the time; she’s got no reason to be, but she just likes to be cautious about most things she’s about to get into -- and yes, that includes relationships of any kind, as well,
ambivert --- misha doesn’t mind being around people as much, but there are times she would rather be away from them, reading something, watching her favourite movies or tv series, you know... just chill whether it be alone or with her favourite person,
a big fan of plaid shirts, chucks or doc martens, and jet black skinny jeans that basically make up at least 80% of her wardrobe. big sweaters and leather jackets could be found there, as well; misha’s not a fashionista by any means, she just wears whatever she feels the most comfortable in and that’s about it,
lover of puns, science and music related humour; probably also the biggest mass effect fangirl you could ever find. legit -- she’s probably finished all the games at least ten times, and almost cried by the end of it, too,
misha’s father is a general and always wants her to travel for some important trips with him, but she always says no, seeing as she is busy with her actual job; he doesn’t quite get that she is still not interested in following his footsteps, despite the huge amount of times she told him such,
she was brought up to be someone who didn’t even flinch when the bad things were happening to the other people, she was taught how to fight, how to defend herself and how to escape from basically any kind of sticky situations,
so... she kind of has problems with expressing her feelings -- she is working on it, but smh, it’s hard,
she’s basically still a WIP, but... HERE are the stats and ye, das it
