I just started reading your story “Queen of the court” and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I’m on chapter 3 right now, and oh boy did that tennis match between Azula and Katara not go the way I thought it would.
I don’t know anything about tennis but the story itself has piqued my interest for it. Is it possible for a game to end in a draw in tennis? Or do the players have to keep playing till one side wins?
I’ve always been a fan of Azutara mutual loss, (wether it be a bending battle or a tennis match or some other competition) so the two of them giving it their all, but a game ending In a tie Is a theme in my mind.
I look forward to reading the rest of the story!
Thank you author, it’s been a blast so far.
Hi! First of all, thanks so much for reading!
That is an interesting theme for sure, but there's no ties in tennis. Still lots of potential drama though. A match is best-of-three sets. With some caveats, a set is first to win 6 games and a game is first to win 4 points (these 4 points are where we get love, 15, 30, and 40). If a set ends in 6-6, they play a tiebreak (which is usually first to 7 points, win by 2). If a player has to stop playing for any reason (retire), their opponent wins by default regardless of the current score.
I hope this explanation helps and you continue to enjoy the fic. Thanks again!
