The smell of fatty food reminds Aomine just how hungry he really is, and he silently thanks Kagami and fast food for being such reliable sources. Not that he’d ever admit to such a thing aloud. If there’s one thing that irritates him most, it’s Kagami’s smug grin when Aomine gives him the benefit of the doubt. Which is very rare.
He follows Kagami to the counter, straightening his posture to assure the small height difference between them is prominent— a habit he’s grown into since he started hanging around Kagami. He has to be sure he wins in every aspect, including height (and even if he only has a two centimeter gain, it’s critical to his ever-living ego). “Two teriyaki burgers,” Aomine says, and then adds in after realizing he played three consecutive games in a row with only a few sips from Kagami’s water bottle, “and a large coke.”
Naturally, his gaze roams elsewhere as Kagami begins ordering, and he looks around the sitting area to find a vacant table they can occupy. It’s not crowded or busy, which is good in Aomine’s opinion. The worst part about coming to Maji Burger is the high possibility of running into someone you know and having to share a table with them. It’s everyone’s go-to place, so Aomine is always destined to run into someone from school (or from a different school, thanks to Seirin).
“I see an open table, I’m going to go grab it. Try not to get lost without me, okay?” The latter part of his statement is heavy with sarcasm, and he can’t help cracking a lopsided grin. He then turns on his heel and makes a beeline to said table, which is fortunately located near the back where the window stretches. He has to wipe a few crumbs off the table, but cheap service is the price you pay for cheap food, so he’s not so worried about it.
“Oi! Kagami!” He yells across the room after sitting down. “Don’t forget to grab me some extra ketchup!”
Luckily for the both of them (or maybe it wouldn't even matter, but it would definitely cause a scene), Kagami doesn't even notice Aomine attempting to assert his height dominance (see: compensating), as he's much too preoccupied with placing his own order and being totally oblivious to the cashier's obvious confusion at the amount he's ordering (she must be new, obviously, since this is no unusual occurrence for him and, really, even if there were other people like him--where there's probably not-- it's not so easy to forget someone of his build and with his hair colour).
"Trust me, I won't. And if I do, I'll just keep your food for myself. Actually... that sounds like a good idea." He seems to ponder it for a second as Aomine's already leaving, but, well, no matter how good it sounds, in the end he's still Kagami, and a bet's a bet-- he just can't take away the prize now (unfortunately). So instead he waits for everything (which takes a bit of a longer time than a normal order, that's for sure, beause of Kagami's personal order), stepping back from the counter to let other people order and glancing around because, well, waiting's never been his strong suit, at least not when he has nothing to really preoccupy himself with.
Once he's got everything prepared, it does take him some time to actually get everything within his arms and, on top of that, he has to stop to grab something extra for Aomine (who he waves off because Kagami won't forget). The order of his next actions end up being something like this: put the stuff back down, grab the ketchup, stuff it into the bag, pick the stuff back up (with a slight struggle because, you know, drinks and everything-- he can't spill them), and head over to the table. He sets it down towards his side of the table, reaching into the bag to grab one of the ketchup packets before he then (lightly!) underhandedly tosses it towards Aomine, in hopes that he'll be caught off guard and it'll hit him (and even if not, whatever).
"You said not to get lost without you, but you're so loud, it'd be impossible," he says casually as he moves to sit down, pushing the bag towards the center since Aomine has less to get out of it. It's not like he's one to talk, but still. Maji is a sacred place, you know? "Useless, too. I totally would have dropped your stuff if I hadn't been the one paying for it. You're lucky."
